The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) extends our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Retired Colonel James R. Wilson, who passed away earlier today.
Colonel Wilson’s legendary career and leadership in law enforcement will be forever etched into the history of DPS and the Lone Star State. Starting as a young Texas Highway Patrol Trooper in the 1960s, he spent nearly 30 years rising among DPS’ ranks – even earning a degree from South Texas College of Law along the way – before serving as Colonel from 1991 to 1996. Even after his retirement, Colonel Wilson remained a steadfast friend and partner to DPS during his time as Sheriff of Williamson Co. and as a private citizen.
Colonel Wilson was a true lawman, and our state and this agency are better off because of his leadership.

The City of Cedar Park just announced you can use this program 10 times per month and they’ll reimburse you $10 each time.
That’s $100/month… or $1,200 per year.
The average homeowner in our city pays $1,781 per year in property taxes (FY26).
So if you actually use it, you could knock your property tax bill down to just a few hundred dollars a year… by soaking your neighbors.

Devastating. Marietta Allison was helping a friend through chemo treatment and had just parked her friend’s car when she was shot and killed allegedly by Darius Hall.
Through the excruciating side effects of chemo treatment she helped HPD track her stolen vehicle to help find the killer who just took her friends life minutes earlier. My heart goes out to her this is so heartbreaking. 💔

🚨 Darius Dewayne Hall, 18, has been arrested and charged with Capital Murder, evading, and tampering with physical evidence in connection with the killing of Marietta Allison in The Heights this weekend. After Marietta parked her car and walked toward a friend’s house, she was allegedly robbed and killed. Her car was then stolen, leading police on a chase that ended in a crash. Hall allegedly barricaded himself for several hours before eventually being taken into custody. He is currently in the Harris County Jail. Prosecutors have requested an 11D hearing in District Court 496 with Judge Dan Simons, where they will argue to keep him in jail without bond while the case is pending. Hall is scheduled to return to court tomorrow morning, March 9, 2026. Marietta Allison never gets another tomorrow. Keeping the man accused of killing her behind bars while this case moves through the courts should be the bare minimum for justice. This is why we passed #Prop3

None of this is Church teaching, just a poor argument by the USCCB—a far too common occurrence.
It’s interesting how the “human dignity” argument is always a one-way street: everything for the foreigner, including lawbreakers, at the expense of the citizen.
The Catechism offers helpful guidance here.
CCC 2241: “Political authorities, for the sake of the common good for which they are responsible, may make the exercise of the right to immigrate subject to various juridical conditions, especially with regard to the immigrants’ duties toward their country of adoption. Immigrants are obliged to respect with gratitude the material and spiritual heritage of the country that receives them, to obey its laws and to assist in carrying civic burdens.”
No nation has an obligation to reward those who violate its laws and the human dignity of its citizens in order to enter the country.

In total, the residents at the @TexasVLB's 10 Texas State Veterans Homes received more than 17,000 Valentine's Day cards from thousands of appreciative Texans.
