The former Home Secretary, his wife and children are now facing eviction after their landlord chose to sell the property rather than continue renting under the new rules.
Critics say this perfectly exposes the fatal flaw in Keir Starmer’s flagship housing policy.
Instead of protecting tenants, the Renters’ Rights Act is making thousands of landlords sell up and exit the market altogether.
Tens of thousands of ordinary renters across Britain now risk losing their homes because of this ill-thought-out legislation.
Many landlords have already warned they will not renew tenancies or will simply sell, dramatically reducing the supply of rental properties and driving rents even higher.
