Middletown Parks & Recreation recently hosted the grand opening for Normandy Hockey Rink, located at Normandy Park on Nutswamp Road. 🏑 During the event, attendees were able to play on the rink, enjoy music from a DJ, and enter raffles, including one for @NJDevils tickets! 🤩

At last week's Township Committee Meeting, Middletown proudly recognized Thomas Blewett for becoming the 2026 NJSIAA 106-pound state wrestling champion. 🏆

And splashdown! America is back in the business of sending astronauts to the Moon and bringing them home safely. Reid, Victor, Christina, and Jeremy did an outstanding job. These talented astronauts inspired the world and represented their space agencies and nations as humanity’s ambassadors to the stars. This was a test mission, the first crewed flight of SLS and Orion, pushing farther into the unforgiving environment of space than ever before, and it carried real risk. They accepted that risk for all we stood to learn and for the exciting missions that follow, as we return to the lunar surface, build a Moon base, and prepare for what comes next. And they were not alone. The entire NASA workforce, our commercial and international partners, and the hopes and dreams of people all over the world were with them. The astronauts know it, and you should too. This mission would not have been possible without you. Congratulations. Artemis II, mission accomplished.

A new milestone for humankind: The crew of Artemis II are now the farthest any human has ever travelled, reaching a maximum distance of 252,752 miles from Earth. This surpasses the previous record set by Apollo 13 in 1970 by about 4,102 miles.

Liftoff. The Artemis II mission launched from @NASAKennedy at 6:35pm ET (2235 UTC), propelling four astronauts on a journey around the Moon. Artemis II will pave the way for future Moon landings, as well as the next giant leap — astronauts on Mars.

📣 Applications for Middletown’s veterans-only affordable housing complex, Veterans Village, opened on Friday, 3/6! Applications must be submitted online. There were two information sessions at the Middletown Township Public Library held in advance of the application opening.

❄️ Winter Storm Update #3 🚧 As the storm bears down on Middletown and snow continues to accumulate, please keep the following in mind: 🛻 Public Works is actively plowing major roadways throughout town. More than 120 vehicles have been and will continue to be dispatched for plowing and snow removal as conditions worsen. 🗑️ Monday’s North Zone trash collection is cancelled. If you haven’t already, please bring trash and recycling containers off the street to prevent damage from snow plows. 🎓 Middletown Public Schools will be closed tomorrow. 🚗 Please avoid street parking if at all possible. Move vehicles into driveways or lots so crews can clear roads curb-to-curb. 🚊 NJ Transit service has been suspended. ⚠️ State travel restriction: @GovSherrillNJ and the New Jersey State Police have ordered all non-essential vehicles to remain off roadways from 9:00 PM tonight through 7:00 AM Monday. Please stay safe, stay warm, and limit travel unless absolutely necessary. #MiddletownNJ

At last week's Township Committee Workshop Meeting, members of the Middletown High School North Touchdown Club presented a $500 check to the Middletown World Trade Center (WTC) Memorial Gardens Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization. 👏
