Once again Rivers State is in the eye of the storm as a scapegoat. Today, another tenet of democracy will be tested when the President’s State of Emergency is debated in the National Assembly. Debate carefully, vote wisely #RiversState #stateofemergency

BRIGADIER GENERAL AS ALIYU MAKES HISTORY WITH DARING PARACHUTE JUMP 🇳🇬
In a rare and awe-inspiring display of military courage and leadership, Brigadier General AS Aliyu etched his name in history today, successfully executing a parachute jump at Airborne Drop Zone, Jaji Military Cantonment. His daring feat is reminiscent of the historic jump by former Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen KTJ Minimah, reaffirming the time-honored tradition of leading from the front in the Nigerian Army.
The significance of Gen Aliyu’s achievement extends beyond personal bravery; it underscores his unwavering commitment to excellence, discipline, and the rigorous demands of military service. Unlike many senior officers who may choose to observe from a distance, Gen Aliyu opted to experience firsthand what young soldiers and cadets endure, a decision that has resonated deeply across military circles.
Gen Aliyu's bold action embodies the enduring ethos of the profession of arms: "No guts, no glory." This momentous occasion serves as a valuable lesson in leadership, demonstrating that true leaders don't just issue orders - they lead by example and share in the challenges and triumphs of those they command. Brig Gen AS Aliyu's jump will serve as an enduring inspiration, a bold reminder that leadership is not about watching from the sidelines but about stepping forward, into the unknown, with those who will one day take up the mantle.
As the Nigerian Army continues to nurture its future leaders, Brig Gen AS Aliyu's remarkable parachute jump will undoubtedly inspire and motivate them to emulate his courage and leadership. His actions reaffirm the Nigerian Army's values, showcasing a force where leaders don't just give orders, but also participate in the trials and triumphs of their troops.

I am pleased to announce that on Sat, Feb 8th 2025, I will be joining His Excellency, @TonyeCole1 at the University of Abuja from 9:00am for an important discussion on leadership pathways for Nigerian youth. I will never pass the opportunity to have a session with His Excellency, Tonye Cole and I consider him to be a progressive minded thought leader and a perfect gentleman. The Future Leaders Forum serves as a pivotal platform to address strategic actions that can harness the potential of Nigerian youth. In addition to providing a space for young voices to be heard, the forum aims to reignite patriotism, challenge intellectual growth and bridge the widening gap between law makers, business leaders, public figures and everyday Nigerians. I look forward to contributing to this great initiative and meeting you all! This event is free. Tell a friend and do come by. I am grateful to the excellent team of @SWAGlobalAfrica for finding me worthy.
Signed

It was a pleasure to host my Egbon @TonyeCole1, we discussed politics, the need for likeminds to start aggregating and the importance of good governance . His father is the author of one of my favourite books on Lagos history " Modern and Traditional Elites in the politics of Lagos" It is a must read, another fantastic book recently released on Lagos history is @tundeleye book "Fireflies on the lagoon"
It takes an interesting slice of Lagos history, starting with the reign of Idewu Ojulari, his suicide by command of the Oba of Benin and then tells the story, Palace intrigues, plots and twist between the Kosoko and Dosunmu lines, with strings being pulled by the Eletu Odibo, The British, Ajayi crowther, Madam Tinubu and The King of Dahomey. I highly recommend.

From 3rd World to 1st - Singapore
Spent the last few days in Singapore, it was my first time in this incredible city/country. I first fell I in love with this country over 15 years ago as I started to deepen my knowledge about national development and how one man’s vision can literally take a nation from third world to first. I delved into the book that captured the 3-decade rule of Lee Kwan Yew and how he shouldered development, and lifted his people out of poverty into great prosperity.
This was a country that had everything going against it, especially after the break away from Malaysia. The only major thing it had was a thriving port. No oil, no gas… That one thing (Port) became the foundation on which everything was built upon. It gained its full independence in 1966, and its GDP per capital was about $$3,500 then. Today it’s $82,000, one of the highest in the world. Architecture is breathtaking, indeed a city in a garden. I’m not a foodie, but even I, had to my foodie fellow traveler in search of awesome taste (not everyday fasting 😃).
The Heart of God Church, led by Pastor How is a home to thousands of young people. It was a great place of worship for us. Pure expression of worship and a genuine heard of worship, in the city!
Grateful to our hosts, The Tolaram Group, whose companies have added so much value to Nigeria over the last 75 years. From Indomie Noodles, to Lekki Ports. It’s an enduring partnership and friendship.
I’ll surely be back here for kingdom projects, business, more knowledge (perhaps via LKY school of public policy), and yes, proper holidays!
Goodbye, the Lion City. Home, here we come! On to the next…

September 2020.
I spent months writing for permission and support for certain bits of the film from the police and Armed Forces. I needed armored vehicles from the army, weapons and uniforms, guidance to ensure we directed the police and military scenes properly, etc.
Then #Endsars happened. When I started going to the judicial panel, I knew it could hurt my chances of getting the approvals I needed.
Some days, I’d leave the panel on Tuesday and fly to Abuja on Wednesday for meetings with police, Army or Airforce. One one of the visits to DIV 1 in Kaduna, a senior officer spotted me and identified me as that “Endsars guy”.
Deeply grateful to RMD who came along on some of these trips to soften the ground. A true EP.
We managed to get some of the approvals we needed using a combination of wit and prayers.
I’m really grateful to everyone who was part of that process, who helped make that journey smoother.
