At the risk of sounding trite, if everything is dignified then nothing is. Dignity and shame will always exist as a lever on behavior! The important parts are the size of the fulcrum (legitimacy) and the force (shame) we are willing to exert to elevate the load (dignity).

If I seem like I’m anti-cooking at home it’s because I am. I have close friends that cook at home and they are terrible cooks and their kids get sick from food poisoning all the time. They’d be better off just eating fast food, therefore nobody should cook at home.

The square we have to circle is that the other side is willing to lie about the outcomes of their beliefs, so if we want to teach truth we have to expose their lies. This will not be taken in any other light than as "hateful."
