Thank you David, for highlighting my Kickstarter for pre-orders of “The Purple Heart Battalion” WWII novel. It’s a gripping war novel of love of family and love of America under impossible circumstances. The bravery of these Nisei soldiers is incredibly inspirational and another example of why they were “The Greatest Generation” 🇺🇸

I wrote my first sociological research paper back in 1989 on the forced removal and internment/isolation/incarceration of Japanese-Americans from the West Coast of the U.S. during World War II using primary documents in UC-Berkeley’s Bancroft Library. I was fascinated both by the “no-no boys” — those who refused to pledge their loyalty to the nation that put them in what some call “American concentration camps” — and those who voluntarily enlisted in the armed forces WHILE IN CAMPS. In his forthcoming novel, @TopShotChris takes up the story of the latter, members of the 100th Infantry Battalion/442nd Regimental Combat Team, per capita one of the most decorated units in US military history.
