The brutal, senseless murders of Bebe, Elsie and Alice marked one of the darkest moments in our country’s history. The report today is truly harrowing and profoundly disturbing. It sets out systematic failures that led to this terrible event. I’ve been overwhelmed by the bravery and determination of their families and while nothing will ever bring these three little girls back, I’m determined to make the fundamental changes needed to keep the public safe. I will do everything I can to honour the memory of Bebe, Elsie, and Alice.

Horrendous. Poisoned meat has been found in Parks in London leaving animals and dogs dead and seriously ill. Who would do something so cruel?? The locations (so far) are Holland Park and Brompton Cemetery for anybody in London looking to walk their dogs near there. Dog walker local to the park said this: "In this case, it's poison meat," he said. "Before we've had toys that have been left around that have been poisoned. The worst one that really shocked me was razor blades being left in tennis balls." One woman walking her dog in Holland Park told BBC London: "I'm totally disgusted. I can't even imagine why anyone would do that." Another dog walker said: "It's absolutely horrendous. I'm not sure if someone's doing it for a spiteful reason. "It will stop people coming to the park with their dogs."

On 29th July 2024, three senseless killings took place in Southport. Today’s findings show that the state systematically failed to stop this atrocity. This government has already taken action, and we will do whatever is needed to prevent this tragedy from happening again.

He’s 14. Speeding in a car with friends, catching up to a woman, yelling and cursing. Trying to show off, he pulls out a gun and fires into her car. When police arrive, she’s dead. He’s sentenced to life. A life was taken—and another is effectively over before it began. Where does accountability meet age, judgment, and development? Can a 14-year-old truly understand the weight of a life sentence? Is 14 old enough for life in prison—or do we need a different way to balance justice, responsibility, and rehabilitation?

@CherokeeOwl I have a 14 year old son & the difference is alarming! This child is a victim of his upbringing & the society he lives in! Until root cause is tackled - parents & environment this is going to continue happening! However he still needs to face the consequences of his actions!

If God had not sacrificed His Son, we would still be spiritually dead and separated from Him forever. Before Jesus’ death and resurrection, even the righteous dead (like Abraham, Moses, David) could not enter the full presence of God in Heaven. Their souls went to a place of comfort called Abraham’s Bosom (or Paradise) — a holding place in Sheol/Hades. It was a state of bliss and rest, but it was not Heaven. The barrier of sin still existed. No one could cross into God’s holy presence because the perfect, spotless sacrifice had not yet been made. When Jesus cried “It is finished” (John 19:30) on the cross and then rose from the dead, He did three massive things at once: 1. He paid the full penalty for sin (the debt was settled — tetelestai = “paid in full”). 2. He defeated death and the grave. 3. He opened the way for believers to go directly into the presence of God. That’s why, right after Jesus died, the Bible says many of the saints who had died rose and appeared in Jerusalem (Matthew 27:52-53). The barrier was broken. Abraham’s Bosom was emptied. From that moment forward, when a believer dies, their spirit goes straight to be with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8 — “absent from the body, present with the Lord”). Without Jesus’ sacrifice, humanity would remain under the curse of sin and death. There would be no forgiveness, no reconciliation with God, and no hope of eternal life in His presence. The righteous dead would still be waiting in Abraham’s Bosom, and the rest of us would have no path to Heaven. God didn’t sacrifice His Son because He was cruel. He did it because justice demanded payment for sin, and love provided the only acceptable Substitute. Jesus was the spotless Lamb who could finally cleanse what animal sacrifices could only cover temporarily. Your point about the Bosom of Abraham is exactly right — it was a place of comfort, but it was not the full presence of God. Jesus’ death and resurrection changed everything. That’s the big picture. The cross wasn’t just one event in history — it was the turning point of all history.

Only God is capable of knowing *exactly* what will happen 2,000 years in the future. The Bible is absolutely incredible. This is more proof. What many Christians miss in Genesis 22 👇

So ‘Restore Britain’ far right clowns want to scrap public sector translation services. That policy is dangerous NONSENSE. Here are 5 examples why: 1️⃣ Our military would be unable to translate NATO intelligence when it isn’t in English. 2️⃣ A&E doctors would be guessing a tourist’s allergies eg if they were going into anaphylactic shock. 3️⃣ Criminals could walk free because key witnesses, such as visitors who see a major crime, couldn’t have their statements translated. 4️⃣ Intelligence services would be unable to carry out foreign language work. 5️⃣ Border Force would be severely weakened by an inability to conduct in-depth foreign language interviews. Impractical, dangerous discrimination.

I live in London, and I'm well travelled. London is one of the safest places I've ever been to. It is a beautiful, diverse and vibrant city and there's no 'no go' zone, absolutely none. Every bit of London, be it posh or poor, is remarkably safe by international standards.

@JossSheldon Taxing rich more (even tho already pay their fair share) does not make the poor richer! Money in the economy causes growth & jobs! Taxes make us all poorer! The richest countries with highest standard of living have lowest taxes! UK taxes constantly rise yet gap between widens!
