A guy in my area forwarded something to a WhatsApp group we’re both in yesterday. “Download this app and get $5 free instantly.” At first, it looked like the usual promo stuff people share every day. Then I opened it. To claim the “free money,” they wanted: — BVN — NIN — Face scan — Front and back camera verification That’s when it clicked. This is how they collect people’s data. Not with force. Not with sophisticated hacking.
Just small bait and urgency. With “free money.” And Nigerians love free money no be today Most people don’t realize how dangerous that combination is. Your BVN connects to almost every bank account you own. Your NIN is your permanent identity. Your face scan becomes biometric verification. Once all three are in the same place, somebody else can: — open accounts in your name — apply for loans — move money — commit fraud And the craziest part? When things go wrong, it’s YOUR name attached to everything. Warn your people.
