@NathWhiteGull @SvensationalGuy 2/2 Attempting to weaken Ciri primarily for gameplay reasons and turn her into a second version of Geralt is a huge mistake. She is something more – a NEW Witcher.

@NathWhiteGull @SvensationalGuy 1/2 Everyone will have to decide for themselves whether CDPR's idea is convincing. Personally, unfortunately, I'm not convinced. Unless CDPR tells this story better than Sapkowski, which I doubt. Mutating Ciri would be a crime against the character we know from the books.

@SvensationalGuy @NathWhiteGull So, I fully agree that Ciri is a witcher. That's obvious. The problem is that CDPR still wants to mutate her in W4. Why? She doesn't need it. Ciri is the legendary Child of Destiny, who won't have to undergo any Trials of the Grass👇

@NathWhiteGull @patient3333 Ciri is more than just a political agenda or progressive thinking. The depth of this character goes beyond that.

@TorusDrako @WitchersLibrary @PhiWeber As I said before, it's entirely possible Ciri is exposed to some toxin or drug that is going to kill her and Geralt/Yen had to make the difficult decision to save their daughter through the trials. That itself is not a bad justification, nor a bad story idea.

@shuunnico @WitchersLibrary @PhiWeber So why the idea of mutating Ciri? It's a desire to remove the Elder Blood and attempt to create a witcher in the old-fashioned way. It's nonsense. Ciri is 100% a witcher, a Child of Destiny who doesn't need to undergo Trials. This is canon in the books. She's the NEW witcher.

@TorusDrako @WitchersLibrary @PhiWeber Who says that it's being removed entirely? The Bauk says that Ciri trying to outrun her fate is foolish. You're just automatically making assumptions because you don't like the idea, not because the idea is inherently bad.

@shuunnico @WitchersLibrary @PhiWeber Any attempt to mutate Ciri would be doomed to failure. The Elder Blood isn’t just some ordinary element that can be removed on a whim. It is an integral part of Ciri. The idea of mutating Ciri to get rid of the gene is a crime against this character

@TorusDrako @WitchersLibrary @PhiWeber Oh, so if the books do not say it directly, then it's fair game. Like innumerable reasons for Ciri to go through the mutations because the books do not explicitly cross off every reason for her potentially choosing/having to do so.

@TorusDrako @WitchersLibrary @PhiWeber If you're going to bang on about respecting the books, then you've already failed because the trilogy itself ignores the books with the premise; that Geralt and Yennifer survive.

@shuunnico @WitchersLibrary @PhiWeber The problem is that CDPR claims to respect the source material, i.e., the books. The idea of subjecting Ciri to mutation is a crime, comparable to the nonsense we got in the Netflix series.

@TorusDrako @WitchersLibrary @PhiWeber Yes, in continuing the story and creating new plot lines, they can, in fact, invent new reasons for things to happen that do not happen in the books. Because it's their storyline now, not canon to the books, and so they can set up and pay off things of their own creation.

@shuunnico @WitchersLibrary @PhiWeber Everyone agrees that the White Frost is the weakest element of W3's plot. CDPR failed to explain what the White Frost is and why Ciri must fight it. The same will be true with the idea of Ciri mutating. It's pure nonsense.

@TorusDrako @WitchersLibrary @PhiWeber "Invention" and the entirety of the Ciri plotline in W3, including the defeat of the White Frost, is an invention of CDPR. The entire trilogy is an invention of CDPR because it revives Geralt and Yennifer.

@TorusDrako @WitchersLibrary @PhiWeber You don't need to powerscale the two. One instance of the Elder Blood resisting something that Geralt can't doesn't mean that is true for everything. If memory serves, Ciri has been drugged before and she can't safely consume witcher potions.

@shuunnico @WitchersLibrary @PhiWeber The Elder Blood gene is more powerful than Witcher mutations. A good example of the Elder Blood gene's power is the Water of Brokilon, which had no effect on Ciri and felled Geralt.

@TorusDrako @WitchersLibrary @PhiWeber We don't know why she went through the trials. There are several reasons she could've, ranging from it could've been a way to save her life from some affliction to her intentionally sterilizing herself to try and free herself from the Elder Blood.

@shuunnico @WitchersLibrary @PhiWeber That's not the point, my friend. Ciri is 100% a witcher (her gene + training + her final choice on the steps of Stygga Castle), but she's not Geralt, she's more than that! She doesn't have to go through any Trials👇

@TorusDrako @WitchersLibrary @PhiWeber It doesn't. The book and games never say that women can't become witchers, just that they don't select women for the trials. The best we have is that in the early stages of testing, the few girls they tested on died, compared to the 70%+ death rate for boys.
