Retired Generals and ex-combatants, represented by Retired Air Marshal Henry Muchena have written to parliament imploring the legislative body to submit constitutional amendment bill 3 of 2026 to a referendum. Drawing from the history of Zanu-PF, the Retired Generals submit that power is derived from the people therefore any changes to the constitution of the nature proposed in CAB3 should be subjected to a vote by the people in a referendum. They cite the 2000 constitutional commission document which the Retired Generals claim was their brainchild which was subjected to a referendum and rejected by the people. The Generals say that was democracy at play and they accepted the people's will. The Generals, in their letter to parliament, are unequivocal that voting for a President through parliament is inimical to the principle of universal suffrage and one man one vote which they fought for. They are livid that MPs cannot vote on behalf of the 17 million Zimbabweans as that would be tantamount to returning to the Ian Smith era of qualified suffrage where a select few would vote on behalf of the masses. The Generals also point out that through the 2013 constitution, the people of Zimbabwe mandated, through section 212 of the constitution, the Zimbabwe Defence Forces to uphold and defend the constitution and that they will not be onlookers while some remnants of G40 are trying to steal away that duty from the ZDF without the approval of the people of Zimbabwe who gave the ZDF that mandate through the overwhelming majority vote for the constitution in the May 2013 referendum. The Generals declare that they're "stockholders" in Zanu-PF therefore they have a right to shape and influence the direction the party should take. So the Generals have spoken, submit CAB3 to the people to vote for or against it in a national referendum.

What happened in 2018 rigging? intimidation, chaos did not vanish because of divine intervention. Chamisa’s words were not reassurance; they were propaganda. They set expectations he could never meet and gave people false hope. And when the results came, as anyone with eyes could predict given the electoral apparatus in Zimbabwe, reality hit and the same people were left to reckon with the bitter truth: God does not vote. God does not monitor ballot boxes. God does not enforce electoral law. To claim otherwise is not just naïve; it is reckless. It is an abdication of responsibility. Leaders are accountable for their words, and @nelsonchamisa must be held accountable not just as a politician but as a human being who knows the power of influence. You cannot stand on a stage and offer heaven as a strategy, then shrug when earthly systems fail. Faith is personal. Politics is practical. Mixing the two as if one guarantees the other is not inspirational it is catastrophic. The cruel reality of 2023 is this millions of Zimbabweans placed their hopes in rhetoric, in divine certainty, and in promises that were, in truth, hollow. And that is the measure of Chamisa’s failure. Accountability in politics is non negotiable. Leaders must speak truth to their people, not scriptured illusions. When you use God as a shield for your campaign, you don’t just mislead voters you weaponize belief to cover political incompetence. Chamisa’s rallies were not sermons. They were promises. And promises, unlike prayers, are meant to be kept.
