A dismembered 14-year-old does not appear to warrant informing the public, even though a murderer, or multiple perpetrators, may still be free among us. As far as I am concerned, this has been a complete failure. I also cannot understand why the family has remained silent. Are they concerned about what they knew? Are they being intimidated? Or is justice for Celeste slowly fading away? Yes, cases can take time, especially when there is no clear starting point. But that is not the situation here. Criminal grand juries also do not investigate indefinitely. In Los Angeles County, criminal grand juries are typically empaneled for 30 days. When a new grand jury is seated, they are provided prior materials, but they did not hear the testimony themselves. In many ways, the process starts over. Since David’s parents appealed, the previous grand jury’s term has now expired. Here we go again. No indictment. No press release. No press conference. No answers.
