@TheRabbitHole All true but as a well off American you are forced to save 25-30% of your salary on top of taxes for kids education long term healthcare retirement etc. these things are included in EU taxes. The break even point is 250k. Below that Northern Europe is a better deal for most.

@stats_feed Lots of rich doctors lawyers and insurance companies. But also high prices subsidize the new drugs the rest of the world gets for cheap. If you adjust for race Asian Americans live as long as those in Asia same with European Americans.

Normalize use of the terms "hobo" and "street person" and “bum” to describe the long-term homeless. Mock those who use the term "unhoused" to describe the mentally ill and drug addicted hobos that degrade the quality of life in our cities.

@MindsetVet To practice medicine you have to take US boards in English. You have to do a residency at a US hospital. If you live in NYC you have choices. Rural areas have few native born Md s foreign docs are a lifeline

Another thing is that honor systems don't survive first contact with non-Japanese Asians and Indians Most formerly venerable American universities operated on the idea that their students were gentlemen who could be trusted not to cheat. This made them exceptional The Chinese don't do that. They just cheat to get ahead. Same with Indians, and like groups, with what rare exceptions there are proving the rule So when you hear about Chinese doing well with university grades compared to whites and us needing to study harder, or whatever...it's because the "Princeton man" used to be a smart but still well-rounded gentleman. That might still kinda be the case with legacies...it's not the case with foreign students, or kids of immigrants who become students, as any professor who has had to deal with Cantonese or Indian students will tell you if they have to be honest. This has decimated the campus culture and traditions of all these schools, and has put whites farther and farther behind So the sort of well-rounded, competent, and honest gentlemen you actually want stewarding the capital of investors by building better companies are screened out. They didn't get "good grades" compared to barely English-speaking Chinese students or Indian strivers, all of whom cheat, and so the CEO will be Vish Chang and he'll engage in some insane scheme and dispossess Americans in favor of illegally hired H-1Bs to boost quarterly earnings and temporarily push up the stock price instead of just running a good company
Cernovich@Cernovich

Microsoft tied bonuses to discrimination against white men. This was well documented. If you didn’t promote white men at Microsoft, you got a larger bonus. None of them will condemn the hatred of white men. They hate us on a deep level.

@SmorglesBord I see many Indian American kids at competitive us colleges (where SAT scores correlate with iq.) I see lots of Indian doctors (who Pass us board exams) so it seems anecdotally most who came 20+ years ago are the smartest ones the newer ones not so much.

(125IQ is needed for Senior Software Engineer or similar) Out of 1.4 billion Indians, globally, how many have >125 IQ with India avg IQ 76-82? About 4 million BUT 90% of India’s H1Bs come from regions comprising less than 140 million; thus the absolute MAXIMUM with >125 is 400k. We have 700k H1Bs already plus spousal work auth. EITHER we already have all the smart ones OR We are not actually getting the smartest ones. Not a single poster about “skilled” immigration, has ever engaged with these facts

@wil_da_beast630 India is not one country but one that lives in several centuries simultaneously. The rich educated cosmopolitan sliver is the only ones we see in the west but it’s a very large poor rural place.

Ok. Take government completely out of healthcare. No rules. No laws. No Medicare. No Medicaid. Hospitals, insurance companies, can do anything they want. What do they do ? If you were running any of the biggest insurance companies or hospitals, what would you do differently once gov was completely out of healthcare ?
Matthew Bednarik@BednarikMatt

@mcuban @GovBillLee Or just let the free market compete and get the government out of Healthcare. A free market would inevitably lead to lower costs for consumers.

A man went to dinner in Europe last night. Paid $11 for a full meal. $6 for a glass of wine that would cost $18 in America. The waiter didn’t need a 25% tip to survive. The restaurant paid him a living wage. He took public transit home. Clean. On time. $2. No car payment. No insurance bill. No $4 gas. He didn’t win the lottery. He didn’t get a raise. He just lives in a country that decided basic life shouldn’t cost everything you have. Then he remembered he was American. And flew home to his $2,300 rent and $500 health insurance premium.

In 1998, the United States achieved its first federal budget surplus in 29 years, effectively ending a streak of deficits that had lasted since 1969. This milestone was achieved under President Bill Clinton, following the passage of the Balanced Budget Act of 1997, which resulted in a fiscal surplus of approximately $69 billion for that year.

Ryan forgot India because he knows his negatively-selected fans would be mad at him for pointing out that they are the most successful ethnic group in America. Still, I would compromise with Ryan and allow free immigration from India, East Asia, Europe, Israel, and Iran.

Nikki Haley's son is a good example. If his preferred immigration worldview were reality, he'd be living in India right now, and his mom wouldn’t have one of the more striking American Dream success stories. It's self-defeating and also incredibly uninspiring.

I will never not find it fascinating that some of the most brazen hostility toward legal immigrants comes from children of immigrants or from immigrants themselves. There's a real tradition of pulling the ladder up right after you finish climbing it. It is so strange.
