Today, nine candidates were sworn-in as Foreign Commercial Service Officers for the Department of Commerce. With unique expertise in commercial diplomacy, these trade professionals will promote U.S. exports, attract foreign investment into the America, and help American companies compete successfully overseas. As we celebrate America’s 250th birthday, we honor and celebrate the extraordinary independence our Founding Fathers secured—and the brave men and women who have heroically fought to maintain that independence for the last 250 years. It’s worth remembering that trade was a prominent part of America’s case for independence. The Declaration of Independence specifically condemned Britain “For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world.” The Founders understood that true independence required the American people to control their own trade policy and commercial destiny. Over the next 250 years, the United States transformed into the greatest economy the world has ever seen. Today, under President Trump’s America First trade policy, U.S. goods exports have reached the highest level in our history. America is building more, producing more, and selling more to the world. Under Secretary @howardlutnick's leadership, the International Trade Administration is proud to carry that legacy forward by helping American workers and businesses compete and win around the world. Chargé d’Affaires Abigail L. This is a historic accomplishment for our great automakers, fishers, ranchers and so many producers who will finally have a level playing field when trading with Europe.

This week in Chicago, Illinois, Deputy Under Secretary for Innovation and Engagement Bill Guidera attended #Automate2026, North America’s largest robotics and automation show 🦾⚙️🔋. While there, he met with industry leaders, provided remarks at the opening keynote session, and participated in a panel discussion on “Building a U.S. Robotics and Automation Strategy.” Through these engagements, DUS Guidera underscored the importance of robotics, AI, and automation to U.S. economic prosperity and how ITA supports investment and exports. @AutomateShow

Assistant Secretary David L. Fogel was in Houston, Texas this week to take part in several engagements to advance U.S. commercial priorities and underscore support for local industry and business communities. He visited @Axiom_Space headquarters to hear about their operations and how ITA’s Advocacy Center and local U.S. Export Assistance Center helped them further their export goals. He also met with the Houston District Export Council and led a discussion on the local exporting environment and opportunities for businesses in the region to unlock international opportunities with ITA’s support. @ExportGov

This week in Seoul, Korea 🇰🇷 Acting Assistant Secretary for Enforcement and Compliance Christopher Abbott led the U.S. delegation to the Seoul International Forum on Trade Remedies. At the Forum, he presented on ITA’s practices and methodologies in the administration of trade remedies and met with trade remedy authorities to advance U.S. trade enforcement priorities.

This week, Advocacy Center Executive Director Hiro Rodriguez met with the AmChams of Asia Pacific 🌏 during their annual visit to Washington, D.C. to highlight Trump Administration advocacy priorities and reforms that strengthen defense advocacy. They also discussed U.S.–regional commercial ties and regional trends where ITA’s Global Markets team is pursuing hundreds of foreign procurement opportunities worth $494 billion for U.S. companies.
