Something that has transformed my understanding of scripture is this:
Using the New Testament to interpret the old instead of using the Old Testament to dissect the new.
If you do the latter your ideologies will be Jewish and literal.
If you do the first you’ll see everything spiritually through the lens of Jesus Christ and the fulfilled covenant.

My uncle has never been a church goer. He and my aunt have started going to a Pentecostal church for about a year now…and have completely fell into the charismatic trap. They have a “healer” at their church. People come from all around because the Holy Spirit is so strong in her, that she can lay her hands on you and heal any ailment. She apparently healed a man’s cancer. She’s the main tongue speaker, too. He begs me to bring my kids to her every time they’re sick. Begs me to come to their church events. My husband (respectfully) declines every time, of course, and has essentially told him to stop asking us. My uncle is such a smart man and it breaks my heart to see him so deceived.
