@TragicLabourUK @linmeitalks But if a cashier in Costco or Asda on £12.50ph, is putting £1000s worth of groceries or stock through their till every hour. Then one could argue they are being massively under paid. They create more value than their wage suggests.

Green Party say they plan to ensure everyone has a minimum wage of £31,000pa. I run a business. I don’t earn that. I employ 2 people. They don’t earn that. The business I run doesn’t take in enough to pay that. I’d need to charge customers way more to afford that 🤷‍♂️. Or go bust

I genuinely don’t understand racism in Britain. Walked through a hospital ward last night (11pm) and every single nurse and doctor I saw was from an ethnic minority, mainly black or Asian. Send us back to our country and who exactly will be looking after your elderly relatives? The NHS relies upon us so heavily yet we’re the most underpaid and undervalued.

The state pension is not a random government favour, it’s the back end of a 35–40 year compulsory “contract” where people are forced to hand over National Insurance on the clear promise of a basic pension at the end. Politicians and think tanks helped design an unfunded, pay‑as‑you‑go system where today’s workers pay today’s pensioners, then have the gall to call it “unsustainable” as if the public dreamt it up. If a private firm sold you a retirement product on fixed terms, took your money for four decades, then announced at 66 that you “didn’t really need it” and would henceforth be means‑tested or frozen, they would be in court for mis‑selling and fraud. The crisis here is not pensioners “leeching off the young”, it’s a political class that built a Ponzi‑style NI system, diverted the proceeds for other spending, and now wants to default on the people who kept their side of the bargain. You do not blame the victims of a defective product for believing the brochure; you go after the people who wrote it.

What I don't understand is why the government are willing to "help" finance those who are not huge contributors to the system, by scrapping the two-child benefit cap, which empowers people who are already not working, or are only working part time to have endless numbers of children, yet they aren't willing to financially incentivise those who are already working full time and paying vast amounts of tax to have children or more children. The government reward those who don't work or work very little, while punishing those who work the hardest.

Low wages force people to shop at Amazon or Tesco. Massive companies can make products cheaper, and people are poor, it’s a poverty loop. Wage suppression destroys small local businesses. Fair pay is good for the economy.
