The Eagle Creek Fire of 2017 in the Columbia River Gorge is an exemplary example of why we can't have nice things. Thanks to NFF & @TrailkeepersOR, 102 of the 118 miles of trails that were closed after the fire are once again open to the public. Full 📽️: nationalforests.org/restoring-the-…

Learn about one of America's newest national scenic trails. The Pacific Northwest National Scenic Trail (PNT) travels through verdant valleys, over precipitous peaks, and past endless towering trees. The PNT is truly a national treasure. Learn more: fs.usda.gov/pnt

Many forests in the Pacific NW have had significant fires over the last few years. Many of the old recreation areas that existed before the fires are reopened, but recreating in burned areas requires extra situational awareness, especially in windy conditions.

We hear the term "Red Flag Warning" a lot. But what does it mean really? A red flag warning indicates that conditions are right for severe fire behavior because of high temps, low humidity & strong winds. That's exactly the story in the PNW this weekend. Please be extra careful!
