The AI job apocalypse is real! We must finally start a broad discussion about this! "AI allows them to do more with fewer people. He noted “a significant number of companies” have recently announced layoffs or hiring pauses, with many of them explicitly citing AI as the reason. (...) AI and automation are boosting output, but they’re also allowing companies to do more with fewer workers, leaving the labor market softer, even while GDP stays positive."

Google's Notebooklm just got a massive upgrade: - 1m token context window and custom personas - 6x longer conversation memory, and - goal based chat controls, across all plans So it can handle very large source sets and stay coherent over long sessions. Google also reports a 50% lift in satisfaction on answers that use many sources, and saved chat history is rolling out with delete controls and visibility limited to each user in shared notebooks. The 6x expansion in multi turn capacity helps follow ups stick to prior facts instead of re scraping the same passages. NotebookLM now searches sources from multiple angles and then synthesizes a single grounded answer, which helps when a notebook holds many long files. Conversations are saved for long projects, can be deleted any time, and in shared notebooks the chat stays visible only to the individual user. Users can set goals that define role, voice, and target outcomes for each notebook, for example a strict reviewer or an action focused planner, which keeps behavior steady without constant prompt rewriting.

your AI agent only forgets because you let it. there is a simple technique that everybody needs, but few actually use, and it can improve the agent by 51.1%. here's how you can use workflow memory: you ask your agent to train a simple ML model on your custom CSV data. — it implements the model in PyTorch, — tests different hyperparameters, — optimizes the model and the configs, — and finally finishes with a training script. but if you want to do this again in a couple of days, you must have some sort of memory of that workflow, so the agent doesn't retry everything from scratch and make the same mistakes. you need the agent to use the experience from the previous workflow. it is an intuitive method to give the agent a practical memory, so it can avoid previous mistakes and focus on improving similar future workflows. The result? → use fewer tokens and save costs → no mistakes made again → agent learns fast from real-world experience Workflow memory is possible to implement with simple markdown files. How? By the end of tasks, you ask the agent to summarize key information for later use: task description, the faced challenges, lessons learnt, etc. then, when starting a new task, you give the agent a short description of each workflow.[md] and ask it to choose which is most relevant to this task. the key is in the prompts, it's what really makes a difference, and either makes or breaks the system. in CAMEL (@CamelAIOrg), we have just rolled out a new version of smart workflow retrieval: the agent will choose which workflow is best fit for each task. you can use this feature in your applications, take inspiration from, or open a PR and make it better! → check it out here: github.com/camel-ai/camel… → a paper from MIT that researched a similar idea reported a 24.6% and 51.1% increase in agent's web navigation benchmark results (Mind2Web and WebArena): arxiv.org/pdf/2409.07429

OpenAI has set a 2028 goal to build a fully automated AI researcher if they achieved it, this aligns with ex-OpenAI Leopold Aschenbrenner (situational awareness) forecast: > AI progress won't stop at the human level > hundreds of millions of AGIs could automate AI research > decade of algorithmic progress (5+ orders of magnitude) into a year or less > humanity could move quickly from human-level to superhuman AI

This is actually a clever context engineering technique for web agents. It's called AgentFold, an agent that acts as a self-aware knowledge manager. It treats context as a dynamic cognitive workspace by folding information at different scales: - Light folding: Compressing small details while keeping the important stuff - Deep folding: Combining multiple steps or tasks into a simplified summary More of my notes: 1) Solving context saturation – Traditional ReAct-based web agents accumulate noisy histories, causing context overload, while fixed summarization methods risk irreversible information loss. AgentFold introduces a dynamic folding paradigm that balances detail preservation with efficient compression. 2) Proactive context management – Rather than passively logging history, AgentFold actively manages its workspace through multi-scale folding operations, adapting to task complexity and information density in real-time. 3) Impressive efficiency – AgentFold-30B achieves 36.2% on BrowseComp and 47.3% on BrowseComp-ZH, outperforming dramatically larger open-source models like DeepSeek-V3.1-671B and surpassing proprietary agents like OpenAI's o4-mini. 4) Simple training approach – Achieved through SFT without requiring continual pre-training or RL, making it more accessible for AI practitioners. 5) Significant resource advantage – Achieves competitive performance with 30B parameters versus competitors using 671B+ parameters. Major efficiency gains for web agent development and deployment. Paper: arxiv.org/abs/2510.24699

MCP & A2A (Agent2Agent) protocol, clearly explained! Agentic applications require both A2A and MCP. - MCP provides agents with access to tools. - A2A allows agents to connect with other agents and collaborate in teams. Let's understand what A2A is and how it can work with MCP: > What is A2A? A2A (Agent2Agent) enables multiple AI agents to work together on tasks without directly sharing their internal memory, thoughts, or tools. Instead, they communicate by exchanging context, task updates, instructions, and data. > A2A <> MCP AI applications can model A2A agents as MCP resources, represented by their AgentCard (more about cards in next tweet). Using this, AI Agents connecting to an MCP server can discover new Agents to collaborate with and connect via the A2A protocol. > Agent Cards (ID cards for Agents) A2A-supporting Remote Agents must publish a JSON Agent Card detailing their capabilities and authentication. Clients use this to find and communicate with the best agent for a task. > What makes A2A powerful? - Secure collaboration - Task and state management - UX negotiation - Capability discovery - Agents from different frameworks working together Additionally, it can integrate with MCP. While it's still a bit new, it's good to standardize Agent-to-Agent collaboration, similar to how MCP does for Agent-to-tool interaction. What are your thoughts? Here's a graphic summarising what we discussed:

🚨 Anthropic just dropped one of the most mind-bending AI papers of the year. It’s called “Emergent Introspective Awareness in Large Language Models.” They tested whether models can actually notice their own thoughts. Not just say “I’m thinking…” but detect injected concepts in their activations and identify them correctly. Here’s what they found: → Claude Opus 4.1 and 4 can sometimes recognize thoughts injected into their neural activations before those thoughts even influence outputs. → They can distinguish between real text inputs and internal “mental representations.” → Some can tell when their own previous output wasn’t intentional basically, when words were “put in their mouth.” → And even crazier they can control what they think about when told to. It’s unreliable, inconsistent, and very context-dependent… But it’s real. For the first time, researchers have shown functional introspective awareness AI that can observe and describe parts of its own internal state. This isn’t consciousness. But it’s the closest thing we’ve seen yet to an AI that knows when it’s thinking. Full paper: transformer-circuits. pub/2025/introspection

There is so much value in data for training/tuning LLM agents. But there aren't too many good public ones. If you do find a good one, it's not in a standard format, and tools vary. Agent Data Protocol attempts to solve this by unifying datasets for fine-tuning LLM agents.

The paper sets a 6-level scale for data agents and explains the path to autonomy. It uses L0 to L5 to show who is responsible, the human or the agent. The term data agent is fuzzy, which confuses ability, risk, and accountability. A data agent is an LLM system that uses data and tools for management, preparation, and analysis. L0 is manual, L1 helps single steps, and L2 runs procedures with tools. L3 plans full pipelines under supervision, L4 runs alone, and L5 invents methods. Most systems they review sit at L1 or L2. The hard leap is L2 to L3, from fixed workflows to end to end planning and optimization. Main blockers are fixed operators, narrow scope across the data lifecycle, shallow strategy, and weak adaptation. The payoff is a shared language that sets expectations and guides honest progress.

🚨 This might be the biggest leap in AI agents since ReAct. Researchers just dropped DeepAgent a reasoning model that can think, discover tools, and act completely on its own. No pre-scripted workflows. No fixed tool lists. Just pure autonomous reasoning. It introduces something wild called Memory Folding the agent literally “compresses” its past thoughts into structured episodic, working, and tool memories… like a digital brain taking a breath before thinking again. They also built a new RL method called ToolPO, which rewards the agent not just for finishing tasks, but for how it used tools along the way. The results? DeepAgent beats GPT-4-level agents on almost every benchmark WebShop, ALFWorld, GAIA even with open-set tools it’s never seen. It’s the first real step toward general reasoning agents that can operate like humans remembering, adapting, and learning how to think. The agent era just leveled up.

The paper shows how Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) talks about LLM reasoning without looking at what builds it. The authors read 258 CHI papers from 2020 to 2025 to see how reasoning is used . They find many papers use reasoning as a selling point to try an idea with LLMs. Most papers use step by step prompts and judge success by user usefulness. That hides the structure of reasoning, like what a step is, how steps connect, and the goal. They then point out that in machine learning, reasoning has a more concrete meaning: a model moves through a series of steps (like thought traces) toward a goal. Those steps are shaped by how the model is trained — either through supervised learning (copying examples of reasoning) or through reinforcement learning (getting rewards for good answers). If rewards only grade the final answer, the model can keep weak steps while still getting the end right. HCI papers rarely check these training choices even in areas like health, education, or decision support. --- Paper – arxiv. org/abs/2510.22978 Paper Title: "Reasoning About Reasoning: Towards Informed and Reflective Use of LLM Reasoning in HCI"
