@cqrcmp @TransitPoliceBC Alleged assault? What does that say about the victim (or alleged victim)? Either you arrested someone with grounds for assault or you didn’t. Don’t belittle the victim just to avoid hurting the criminal’s feelings.

Last Friday, #CoquitlamRCMP frontline officers responded to an alleged assault on a SkyTrain attendee. Officers arrived on scene in the area of the 1200 block of Pinetree Way in Coquitlam and immediately began patrolling with @TransitPoliceBC officers in search of the suspect, who had fled the immediate area. Within minutes, an officer identified and arrested the suspect without incident. This incident is a great example of how coordinated policing leads to effective outcomes for the safety of the community. 🚔🤝🚆 #CoordinatedPolicing #CommunitySafety

West Vancouver Police Department
March is Distracted Driving Awareness Month, so #WestVanPolice teamed up with North Van RCMP, BC Highway Patrol, Transit Police and ICBC to provide some much-needed education and enforcement in #westvan and #northvan. 44 tickets in total were issued, with one WVPD officer kept busy on the #LionsGateBridge, ticketing 14 drivers in just two hours for cell phone use, bus lane infractions, lack of insurance, and an unrestrained child. Some drivers were so engrossed in their phones that they didn’t notice the officer standing right outside their window, wearing a high-visibility vest – including one driver watching videos on YouTube! The laws we’re enforcing are clear: only hands-free calling is permissible, and phones must be mounted to your dash if you need them to accept or end calls. Slow-moving, or stop-and-go traffic, is not the time to pull out your phone. Not only could your inattention lead to tragic consequences for pedestrians, cyclists, and other road users, it could also cost you $368 and four demerit points. #DistractedDrivingMonth #WestVancouver #WVPD @BCHwyPatrol @icbc @RoadSafetyBC @BCRCMP @nvanrcmp @TransitPoliceBC

Yesterday, we joined forces with @WestVanPolice, @TransitPoliceBC , and @icbc to raise awareness about distracted driving through targeted enforcement in support of Distracted Driving Awareness Month. Officers were stationed at Capilano Rd and Marine Dr, as well as in West Vancouver. Over the course of two hours, officers issued 44 tickets, 36 of which were for drivers using an electronic device while behind the wheel. Our community policing volunteers were also on scene, helping support the initiative and engaging with the public. These enforcement efforts highlight the ongoing risks of distracted driving and serve as an important reminder to keep your full attention on the road.

The past few months at Learn 4 Independence have been filled with meaningful conversations with our local community. We’ve been so grateful to welcome @transitpolicebc, @bcspca and the Richmond RCMP Community Engagement team to present to our L4I participants. From learning how to avoid phone scams and what to do in an emergency, to gaining insight into animal rescue, each visit has provided valuable, real-world knowledge. Every organization that shares their time and expertise helps equip our participants with essential skills and confidence they can carry with them beyond PAFN and into their everyday lives.
