@bennjordan Compairson is maybe weird… It is like asking digitakt vs opz only because they are both step sequencers. Unless we are referring to first impressions only ~ PT Mini has faster pickup as M8 uses gaming style input that one needs to get the hang of. Can we debate hex vs dec? 🤓
@FoxyMachiko It may appear that way. Over the last 3 years I got caught up in a project of mine that got a bit carried away - dirtywave.com … I am planning to get back into music when I have a bit of a better work/life balance.
Celebrating M8 firmware version 3.0.3 here’s a little boop. Featuring synth beeps from external gear routed internally, along side Hypersynth sweeps and stereo sample boom. dirtywave.com/support

big thank to @Trash80 for featuring on the title track - and for creating the @DirtyWaveMusic#m8tracker which was used to make this album

I usually listen to the whole track when this comes up on my playlist. Chiptune gold. ‘Trash80 Live set Blip Tokyo 2011’ by Trash80 on #SoundCloud? #npsoundcloud.com/trash80/trash8…
@covox The lovely milled aluminum case was handled through boxy pixel. But originally tested various sources and quality was spotty. If it was not for the pandemic I probably would have traveled to China to find a good manufacturer.
@Trash80 Can't begin to describe how awesome the M8 is. So glad to have it in my hands. I love it.
Also, what company manufactured the PCB? The silkscreening is damn fine, so much cleaner than JLCPCB's. And who milled and coated the case?
@covox Oh nice I did not know you got one! Glad you like it! PCB was done through my local PCB assembly house- they have a preferred vendor so don’t know who exactly. Working with a local company is far more expensive but allows both a better quality product and building good relations.
Now that preorders are fulfilled I’ve heard things like “you must feel proud” or “It must feel good”… it does not. I’m a ball of stress and feel overwhelming pressure, just as mush as it was at the start. I wonder if this is normal and how others deal with it. Is this “burnout”?
@leonard_coder@gw3m@Seantron@DirtyWaveMusic Funny enough this whole thing started by dusting off an incomplete lsdj style midi tracker I wrote in 2013 to hook up to a ym2149 via a midi ym2149 project I made. (Thanks @gw3m for the tips and tricks)
@gw3m@Seantron@DirtyWaveMusic no it was just a crazy idea! I just loved the look&feel of this device :) Doing Maxymiser on it would be a complete rewrite, not a port I guess.
@Sabrepulse@Ultrasyd1@Ultrasyd1’s music directly inspired one of my projects forward into what I work on to this day. He will always be a source of inspiration and one of the purest, most genuine people I’ve been lucky enough to meet.
