Final 2025 NBA Draft Board I use stats with eye test support to rank median outcomes. The "comps" are loosely (sometimes very loosely) how I'm thinking about each player, and are more of "expected impact" comps rather than play style or athleticism level comps. 🧵

@CoreyTulaba Don't think Carrs defense is on Mikals level. This might be skinny, longer wingspan Knecht

Big day for Baylor’s Cam Carr dropping 30 in the NBA Draft Combine Scrimmage. Not too many dudes have shared Carr’s intersection of shooting, length, and bounce.

I can partially get behind the idea of FR BPM inflation. That said, if BPM inflation was the only factor, the top end wouldnt have this many high BPM FR so abruptly. These are all the 10+ BPM for U20 in the last 5 years.

AJ and Wagler could possibly fall out of this depending on tourney games, but even just the others staying in is surely outlier esque

@pinkhoopsss The problem is its been like this for multiple years. Makes you wonder if the coaches are seeing things we aren't privy to

It’s insanely obvious that Zvonimir Ivisic is the 2nd best player on Illinois but they just refuse to play him more than 20 mins a game lmfao

@pmmbasketball Hes gonna be an argument for his whole career, unless something fundamentally changes about who he is without the ball (including defense in that statement). Multiple time all stars are in his future, which everyone will obviously cling to and love.

so basically I can project AJ to average a cool 27-7-5 in the league at some point but he’s still not top 2. Its not about what we project him to be its about the lense in which we view league AJ

Context of statistics informs the eye test better than the inverse.

And this right here, what just happened in Indiana, is why making an example of the Jazz was a short-sighted decision/slippery slope. 1) Zubac returns to action from extended time off, plays heavy 1H minutes. Looks good scoring 8 PTS (4-6 FG). 2) Nembhard drops 23 PTS (!) in the 1H in just 17 mins. They both disappear at halftime, and dont play a single 2H second in what was a respectably close game for a majority of it. Pacers (a team with losing incentive) lose. Sound familiar? The franchise comms team will likely issue an injury management explanation to avoid the eye of Secaucus Sauron/refute the imminent tanking allegations. Is it possible both players got sore in the locker room/hurt in the first half? Sure, I guess. The point here is that by fining the Jazz for conduct detrimental to the league, NOT (⬅️) a Player Participation Policy violation, your games are now going to be under the microscope in the event this type of starter rotation activity occurs again. You can’t just fine one franchise and hang their reputation from a tree to scare the other citizens from replicating the same behavior. That selective enforcement is what put you in the spotlight originally, because Jaren Jackson Jr./Lauri Markkanen ended up either getting surgery or having a legitimate hip injury keeping them out for the foreseeable future. Nembhard/Zubac may end up experiencing something similar to JJJ/Markkanen, they may not, but the inconsistent enforcement WITHOUT knowing their personal medical records is reflective of a business that only steps in when the seat gets hot. The Jazz ended up winning some of those games they were so highly scrutinized for. The Pacers lost tonight. This alone does not justify penalizing the Pacers, because Micah Potter was trying to win just as much as Brice Sensabaugh was for Utah. Players dont tank. If you’re not going to fine the Pacers for this tonight, then just give the Jazz governors their $500,000 back, because this hypocrisy is what’s damaging the league reputation more than the integrity of the game.

@lee_dessecker I love the tourney, I want as many buzzer beater opps as possible. I just want as few chances for blowouts as possible. Upsets are totally fine, if I'm getting a close game out of it.

@TrashPanda0523 I don’t know man. NCAA tourney isn’t for you. It is always going to have a field of not all the best teams. And I don’t know a single person that doesn’t love the upsets of the tourney. I guess don’t watch until Elite 8 or something. Shitty bubble teams aren’t improving this.

@lee_dessecker I understand what it is. I, and most people (whether they'll admit it or not) ultimately want as many close games as possible. Higher numbers of worse teams increase chances for blow outs.
