First off 18 year old DJ stayed out the way and did nothing but grind! The kid was coming in with the most buzz UF had since Tim Tebow. He didn’t ask for all online classes but the staff thought it would be best. His faith made him different and he protected that by isolating himself from others who didn’t take that same stance in hopes that he would remain the humble young star that he was in Willis Texas. He avoided distractions on his way to his dreams. He did the same thing in HS. He worked out, practiced, and went home to go to sleep at 8pm every day and still did that at UF pretty much. DJ came there with his mind made up to be the catalyst that brought UF back. But as the season went on he seen he actually needed as many solid relationships that he could find to lean on in those times. But because he had isolated him self and he hadn’t built or retained those relationships out to where he may have felt that people were available to be there for him so he didn’t know where to start. We have had many talks since then and discuss many ways on how to deal better with all that he had gone thru for the future! But although he was depressed at times throughout last year and some things seemed out of his control, he never cracked regardless of whatever! He remained unbroken and left that situation able to see that his biggest take away is that God had to lead him thru that in order to lead him to this!! God opened his eyes to what he needed to see and there were lessons for him to learn and grow thru there so he could be here in this moment that he is now ready for. @PeteThamel @YahooSports @usatodaysports
