Ever wonder why my itineraries/posts feel lived-in, not just photoshopped? It's because I've poured my own money and time into several personal trips since 2023 - to Germany and Switzerland, Turkey's scams, Spiti's adventure, Vietnam's beaches & mountains (twice), Thailand's luxe resorts, Dubai's buzz, Goa's vibes & more. Real sweat for real advice. Take Vietnam: Dropped ~₹10L equivalent on an impromptu family jaunt (Hanoi street food to Phu Quoc sunsets). Fell for tourist traps, nailed hidden gems. Now? My clients skip the flops. Or Krabi: Self-sponsored 3 resorts in a week - Ritz-Carlton Reserve to Banyan Tree. Mind-blown doesn't cover it. Your trip? Flawless because mine wasn't - due to paucity of time. Switzerland winters? Rode those moving cinema trains myself. Goa buffets? Raged at the banquet hall chaos (ITC, I'm looking). Dubai & Europe hops? Blended work with wonder. Time away from family, surveying resorts for insights - it's the grind behind the glamour. But seeing your trips sparkle? Worth every rupee. As a Luxury Travel Advisor, I invest so you don't have to. Custom itineraries to full concierge. DM for Vietnam's beach escapes, Swiss snow dreams or your next bucket-lister. #TravelAdvisorLife

Does this view make you want to pack your bags? - it sure does for me! 📩 DM for Switzerland 2026 packages/itineraries (paid). A journey through snow covered land mass, trees and Swiss Alps in the backdrop is a bucket list item for most of us. And this journey feels less like a train ride and more like a moving cinema. Don't just dream about the snow - let us book you the window seat.

Reference budget range for key destinations when you opt for hotel recommendations through us. We keep getting requests for aspirational stay recommendations, yet unreasonably low budget. Hence, we thought of laying down the minimum price expectation you should keep before reaching out to - - Switzerland: Rs 20k/night; 25k+ during season - Japan: Rs 20k/night; 25k+ during season - Dubai/Abu Dhabi: Rs 12k/night; 15k+ during season - Singapore: Rs 17k/night; 20k+ during season - Sri Lanka: Rs 10k/night; 15k+ during season - Thailand: Rs 12k/night; 15k+ during season - Vietnam: Rs 12k/night; 15k+ during season These are the average reference range for each country, while individual city prices may differ substantially. For example, Grindelwald/Zermatt during season can be >50k/night. Similarly, Krabi, Phu Quoc, Weligama, Kyoto can be super expensive during season due to limited supply in these destinations. We can still book hotels cheaper than these but for that we need you to tell us the exact hotel you want with the dates and we will give you our best price.
TravelBluez@TravelBluez

Aligning our focus even more towards Luxury trips going forward. We started out as a Luxury Travel Advisor but have been taking up requests even for budget trips. We tried to scale up the team but have been unsuccessful so far, as we couldn't find the right fit with like minded passion. Given limited bandwidth and the need to focus more on self-health, we will henceforth only take Luxury trips/itineraries from new clients. Existing clients can feel free to reach out to us for all kinds of trips. We will continue to book budget or mid-range hotels but only when it is a part of our itinerary planning package or when the exact hotel is told to us and only a price quote is needed.

@OntheRoadAJ Yes - good idea, Thanks. For this post, I intentionally avoided going into details within each country. Perhaps, will do this in a country centric thread for each.

@TravelBluez Very useful guide overall. For Thailand, I would suggest further breakdowns can be useful too. For eg. there are months when their Western coast (Phuket etc) can be super rainy, but Eastern side in the calmer bay (Samui etc) can be quite pleasant.

Japan is HOT 🔥 I mean really really hot. Flight prices have gone crazy, visa wait time of 15+ days. We now have close to a dozen active queries that are WIP for Japan for this summer. Vietnam and Switzerland are 2nd and 3rd for us.
TravelBluez@TravelBluez

Where to Travel this summer given the War/s? Worried about how the current 2026 geopolitical energy crisis and the Strait of Hormuz blockade will impact your travel plans? Here is a deep dive into how this compares to the 1973 and 1991 crises, shifting global supply chains and the safest destinations right now. History Check 1: The 1973 Oil Crisis This is the closest parallel to today - The Oil Crisis during the Yom Kippur War, when OAPEC imposed an oil embargo. Oil prices quadrupled overnight, leading to massive gas lines, license plate rationing and a national 55 mph speed limit in the US. While the 2026 supply cut is technically larger by volume, we are better insulated today: the global economy requires ~60% less oil per dollar of GDP than it did 50 years ago. History Check 2: The 1991 Gulf War When Iraq invaded Kuwait, oil prices doubled. But that 1991 shock was short-lived because military forces quickly secured the fields and emergency reserves were tapped. 2026 is vastly more complex because a critical maritime chokepoint is physically blockaded, stranding millions of barrels at sea. Is today worse than 1973/1991? Yes and no. In terms of raw volume, 2026 is the largest supply disruption in history (an estimated 10M barrels/day cut). However, the global economy is actually less vulnerable today than it was 50 years ago. Here is why we aren't at a total standstill: 1️⃣ Reserves: Countries are releasing millions of barrels from Strategic Petroleum Reserves. 2️⃣ Efficiency: The global economy needs ~60% less oil per dollar of GDP than in 1973. 3️⃣ Renewables: Solar, wind and non-Middle Eastern oil (like US shale) act as massive safety nets. How major countries are surviving right now: 🇺🇸 US: Highly insulated. Pumping record domestic oil and importing from Canada. 🇨🇳 China: Opportunistic. Buying discounted Russian crude and stockpiling heavily. The Travel Impact: We are seeing flight reroutes to avoid conflict airspace, spiking aviation fuel prices and localized crises. Several highly dependent countries in South and Southeast Asia are enforcing fuel rationing, military-guarded depots or 4-day work weeks. The BIG Question that we face multiple times every day now - Where is safe to travel? Long-Haul Havens: If you want zero stress about power grids or local fuel: 🇮🇸 Iceland & 🇳🇴 Norway: Running almost entirely on renewables/hydropower. Completely insulated. 🇳🇿 New Zealand & 🇯🇵 Japan: Safe flight routes heading East, plus highly electrified transit - Japan flight cost from India has already risen 40-50% over the past 2 weeks ☹️ Closer to Home in Asia 🇲🇾 Malaysia: A net oil exporter. Highly stable and insulated from regional shortages. 🇮🇩 Indonesia: Strong domestic energy security. 🇱🇰 Sri Lanka: Fuel is pricier but they have the reserves to keep pumps open and tourist routes active. TL;DR: Key Takeaway - Thanks to massive strategic reserve releases and renewable energy, we aren't at a 1970s-style global standstill. But your travel experience relies entirely on your destination's energy independence. Choose countries that produce their own power!

Have you ever just booked a flight and left? No plans, no itinerary, nothing! COVID, the current Middle East war are some events that have driven this behaviour. We did it ourselves many times during COVID to escape being locked in our building - just drove off sometimes to Rajasthan, Kerala or often to Goa using different routes. Yesterday night a client just took off from Dubai to Colombo without any plans, in the first available flight and will spend the next 7-10 days in Sri Lanka. He will take every day as it goes rather than book on advance. While we build itineraries (paid), suggest to ditch us once in a while and go on such wild trips knowing nothing and taking every day on its own. It's fun.

Not just traveling, even booking last minute can be fun sometimes. For this client, who flew in to Colombo without a plan, we are currently booking every day for the next day. A superb resort in Kalutara had all its base (and +1/2) categories sold out. But Thanks to my relationship with the Sales Head, I was able to secure the 1 Bedroom Pool Villas for $675/night vs the going rate of $1400/night. Oh wait - there's complimentary Dinner too as an added perk.

Park Hyatt Sydney. Pullman Quay Grand Sydney Harbour. Choose Harbour Bridge facing rooms for best views for the fireworks. If you get rooms with views of both Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge together that’s 👌 The Sebel Quay West Suites, The Four Seasons, and the Sydney Harbour Marriott will also have rooms offering fireworks views, but they don’t have private balconies afaik. The Pullman QGSH and Sebel QWS are Accor properties. Around NYE chances are that rooms will be non-refundable with MLOS. Adding a post on how to enjoy the fireworks for free 👇

🎇 Top tip for anyone planning NYE in Sydney… Start your planning early!! 📧 Already receiving emails to prebook for this year-end! 🇦🇺 NYE in Sydney is surely not for the budget conscious. But one way to get a slightly better deal is by planning early. ✌️ A couple of years ago I started planning for the NYE in SYD in August and noticed a lot of the best stuff, spots and hotels were either too crazily priced… or just no longer available.
