Oman: We are monitoring the situation in the Middle East closely and will keep you updated so you can make decisions about your safety. Commercial flights are currently operating out of international airports in Oman. Americans should strongly consider departing on one of these flights if they believe it is safe to do so. If you choose to not take advantage of available departure options, including commercial options, you should be prepared to shelter in place in a secure location within your residence or another safe building. The U.S. Embassy Muscat continues to offer routine American Citizen Services, with limited immigrant visa services and emergency non-immigrant visa services. Americans should contact MuscatACS@state.gov in case of emergency. Read more: om.usembassy.gov/security-alert…

Iraq: Iran-aligned terrorist militias have encouraged and conducted widespread attacks on U.S. citizens and targets associated with the United States throughout Iraq, including the Iraqi Kurdistan Region (IKR). The International Zone remains closed, with limited exceptions. There have also been repeated attacks in the area around the Erbil International Airport and U.S. Consulate General Erbil. Do not attempt to come to the embassy in Baghdad or the consulate general in Erbil in light of ongoing risk of missiles, drones, and rockets in Iraqi airspace. The U.S. Embassy Baghdad and Consulate General Erbil have suspended all routine consular services. Americans should contact BaghdadACS@state.gov or ErbilACS@state.gov in case of emergency. U.S. citizens should leave Iraq now via overland routes to Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye. Details for each, including updated instructions for Americans seeking to enter Kuwait, are listed in the full alert. U.S. citizens choosing to remain in Iraq are strongly encouraged to reconsider in light of the significant threat to public safety posed by Iran-aligned terrorist militia groups. Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza: The Department of State is continuously assessing the availability of commercial air and ground transportation options and will continue to share information with U.S. citizens. The Israeli Ministry of Transport has provided an application form for foreign nationals in Israel to request support departing Israel during an emergency (@mot.gov.il?displang=en&gbxid=0" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">govforms.gov.il/mw/forms/Forei…). The United States deeply appreciates Israel’s cooperation in helping Americans return home. Ben Gurion Airport is open for limited commercial flights. Americans should strongly consider privately booking and departing on one of these commercial flights if they believe it is safe to do so. The Israel Ministry of Transportation has announced a reduction in passenger capacity for certain outbound flights from Ben Gurion International Airport (TLV) due to updated security assessments. Americans seeking to depart Israel should also consider overland routes to Taba, Egypt, where commercial options to depart the region are operating. The land crossing to Egypt at Taba is operating and scheduled to be open 24 hours a day. There are several ways to travel from Taba to Sharm-El-Sheikh: shared minibuses and private taxis are readily available. Transportation may also be arranged overland from Taba to Cairo, though this drive is 8-9 hours and will pass through Sharm-El-Sheikh due to security restrictions on other roads. U.S. Embassy Cairo recommends that all travelers have at least $115 USD (cash) per person to cross the Taba border, with some extra USD in cash for any unexpected expenses. See additional land border requirements and read full alert at: il.usembassy.gov/security-alert…

Iran: We are monitoring the situation in the Middle East closely and will keep you updated so you can make decision about your safety. If you choose not to take advantage of available departure options, including commercial options, you should be prepared to shelter in place in a secure location within your residence or another safe building. Have a supply of food, water, medications, and other essential items. U.S. citizens should not travel to Afghanistan, Iraq, or the Pakistan-Iran border area. Land routes to Armenia, Turkey, and Turkmenistan are open-see details for each in the full alert. Azerbaijan’s land borders are closed to routine traffic. U.S. citizens with an urgent need to depart Iran should first consider other available options for departure. Be aware the Iranian government may prevent U.S. citizens from departing or charge an “exit fee” for departures from Iran. U.S.-Iranian dual nationals must exit Iran on Iranian passports. Iranian police and security personnel may operate roadside checkpoints using unmarked vehicles such as taxis. U.S. nationals are at significant risk of questioning, arrest, and detention in Iran. Showing a U.S. passport or demonstrating connections to the United States can be reason enough for Iranian authorities to detain someone. U.S. citizens in Iran in need of help should contact the U.S. Embassy in Bern, Switzerland by email at BernACS@state.gov or phone at +41-31-357-7011. Read more: ir.usembassy.gov/security-alert…

Saudi Arabia: We are monitoring the situation in the Middle East closely and will keep you updated so you can make decisions about your safety. If you want to leave the Middle East, the U.S. government is ready to assist by providing you the latest information about the departure options available. President Trump, Secretary of State Rubio, and the Department of State have no higher priority than the safety and security of American citizens. We encourage U.S. citizens to depart Saudi Arabia via commercial flights if you can do so safely. Saudi airspace remains open with frequent air traffic restrictions to address continued missile and drone threats. Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam airports remain open and operational, but travelers are advised to check their flight status directly with the airline due to possible delays and cancellations. Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza: The Department of State is continuously assessing the availability of commercial air and ground transportation to determine what options are best to offer to American citizens and will continue to share information with U.S. citizens. The U.S. Department of State and U.S. Embassy Jerusalem have reached an historic arrangement with El Al to further support U.S. citizens who would like to depart Israel. All U.S. citizens seeking to depart on these flights, including those who already hold an El Al ticket, are requested to register via the El Al form. Once registered, El Al will proactively contact passengers to verify eligibility and assign them to available flights. Americans wishing to change the flight to which they have been assigned should directly contact El Al with their specific requests. The U.S. Embassy cannot assist in prioritizing passengers for El Al flights. Ben Gurion Airport is open for other limited commercial flights. Americans should strongly consider privately booking and departing on one of these commercial flights if they believe it is safe to do so. Please do not come to the airport unless you have purchased a ticket yourself or you have been contacted directly by an airline to inform you that you have been confirmed on a flight. Americans seeking to depart Israel should also consider overland routes to Taba, Egypt, where commercial options to depart the region are operating. The U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem and the Embassy Branch Office in Tel Aviv will be closed Friday, March 20 in observance of Eid Al Fitr. No services will be available on that date.
