Temporarily capping rent increases at the rate of inflation, as proposed in Bill 205, makes a world of sense.
Thousands of Calgarians are facing the fastest-climbing rents in the country.
Keeping people in their homes should be a priority.

@LoneHowler @CWalcottYYC She doesn’t own more than one home and selling would see her losing money on the property, money she can’t afford to owe. I see what you are saying on the adding inventory but not everything is as easy as you make it out to be.
English

@Trawets_Asil @CWalcottYYC Oh no more homes getting put on a housing market that's desperate for houses. Such a tragedy for people owning more than one house

@CWalcottYYC I’m not opposed to caps but I do think some landlords aren’t making huge $$$ on their rentals and this will drive people like my cousin to sell because she can’t afford the increase in costs.
English

@CWalcottYYC How does this work for landlords that have a large mortgage increase? For example- my cousin who rents her condo in yyc. Her mortgage is set to go up $500 next month with renewal. She can’t afford increased losses but that mortgage increase is much more than 5% of the rent.

@drdagly @AMAcommunity Ive used it twice to tow the Urban Arrow in. Both instances they had good response times and got the bike to the shop for me.
English

Honestly, even though I don’t have a car, I think given my ability to destroy a bike, an @AMAcommunity membership might pay for itself. ama.ab.ca/auto/roadside-…

@rtiedema @mommypedals We went to the optometrist for a prescription. Super quick in and out and walked across the street to the pharmacist and got it filled.
English

@mommypedals Perhaps they know going to a doc is going to cost you hours in walk-in clinic or days/weeks for an appointment at your family doc…if you have one.
English

@Krisbike4life I’ll have to try this! Because I have never cooked lentils, do you have to cook them before putting them in or do they cook quick enough when added? I’m picturing dry lentils in a bag?
English

Swapping out some or all of your ground beef for lentils in recipes like sloppy joes, tacos, and spaghetti sauce is my favourite health/$$/environment hack. We started with 2 tbs and gradually got to 50/50, then our kids didn't even notice when we went 100% lentil.

Guys... I love me a good quality beef steak, but can we all stop being such lushes and gorging on these fine, expensive foods everyday? For the love of God, how about some beans, lentils and buckwheat in our diet? Maybe a hearty soup? 🤷♂️😆

@CalgaryBluesky @ABDanielleSmith @AdrianaLaGrange The whole situation sucks. We finally got a family doctor but it took so long
English

@CalgaryBluesky @ABDanielleSmith @AdrianaLaGrange Did you check if your pharmacist can prescribe it for you?
English

I have never, in my whole life, never been without a family doctor. I am in uncharted territory. Trying to get a prescription I'm on long term is like guest starring on Wipe-out. Why is it this difficult? #yyc #ab @ABDanielleSmith @AdrianaLaGrange
English

@CalgaryBluesky I wouldn’t be pissed off at the doctors, I would be pissed off at the UCP and @ABDanielleSmith for their management. They have made it very hard for doctors to work in Alberta
English

@Matticusssss I got kicked out of yoga about 15 yrs ago because I couldn’t stop laughing. I guess they also forgot to take my bike that day.
English

@JackieSeidel1 She should probably try a heating pad and a good nights rest.

@Krisbike4life @amandalhu Our childcare situation has been a bit of mess so I have done more drop off and pick ups than I expected and got to know a few parents. 2 kiddos that I know of have long covid diagnosis, another was told they have a long covid cough which seems to be aggravated similar to asthma
English

@Trawets_Asil @amandalhu Nooo, long covid in kinder 😞. I knew it was happening, I just hadn't heard of anyone yet (at least not officially). I actually don't know about this year. My kinder is not a great source, and there's not as much parent chit-chat.
English

This was out of a class of 20 children. I wasn’t even counting the kids I’ve known who’ve gotten severely ill who go to other schools.
Lou Anon@LouAnonAnon
This happens to such a low percentage of children that you’d have to know 10s of thousands of 5 year olds for this to be true

Any ebike companies want to gift me a electric bike to raffle off for any #PE teachers who attend this session at @SHAPE_America National Convention?? #SHAPECleveland

Excited to announce that @MrHamiltonPE @theworthington2 and I will be presenting “Bike Bus - The ACTIVE Way to Get to School!” at @SHAPE_America #SHAPECleveland #BikeBus !
English

@Krisbike4life @amandalhu Our k class has seen many children with Covid and strep at the same time, several hospitalizations and then long covid diagnosis.
English

@amandalhu Yep - 12 preschool kids last year, one classmate and one sibling were hospitalized for respiratory illness/strep etc. Each was for 3+ weeks over the school year. Teachers never known that to happen once in their decade + of teaching multiple classes.

@CalgaryBluesky Glamorgan Bakery has vanilla and chocolate custard as options.

@TheCritninja Last snow we had people at 11pm and before 530am out with snowblowers and loud equipment. I feel like I have a fairly high tolerance for noise but this seemed excessive.
English

maybe it's not lack of awareness but actually annoyance at how disruptive leave blowers are #yyccc globalnews.ca/news/10289506/…
English

@JD78741001 @GlobalCalgary I wouldn’t even say we sleep late, the last snow the snow clearing started before 5:30am on my street.
English

Coincidentally, that's exactly what I thought after previous snowfall that was fresh and less in amount.
we cleaned off the fresh snow on the pedestrian walkway with shovel during early hours and then watched snow cleaning company utilizing their loud equipment.
I get it they are paid for the services
&
their customer await elsewhere
but
I do understand neighboring units who sleep till late
(maybe after night shift jobs as well)
...waking up to the noise.

A local company says confusion over a snow removal bylaw is leading to confrontation and threats to employees on Calgary sidewalks.
