⭕️ Survey results set to be presented at an international AIDS conference in Rio de Janeiro reveal that President Trump’s cuts to the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) forced three-quarters of surveyed organizations to stop serving people at highest risk of HIV, The New York Times reported today. Trump administration cuts reduced overall PEPFAR spending by roughly 30%, with HIV prevention spending slashed by 51%. At least 1,700 service sites were forced shut and more than 16,000 aid workers laid off at the surveyed organizations. A separate study found PEPFAR supported treatment for about 77,000 fewer children in 2025, a 14% decline. Nearly half of children living with HIV worldwide do not have access to treatment, according to UNAIDS.

Mamdani asked why he didn’t mention Oct. 7 in last night’s address on Netanyahu, Gaza war. His response: “It is from a universal politics that I can look at Oct. 7 and describe it for what it is, which is a horrific war crime, and I can also look at Benjamin Netanyahu and see the way that he's orchestrated this genocide, and also deem him similar to be a war criminal.”
