@EdwardJDavey How dare you infer that you speak for the UK.
And yes, we don't want our civilians shot, but knifed is OK?
You are so out of touch with most of the nation.
English

Trump & Vance need to stop meddling in British politics and fix their own country.
Here’s a message back from the UK: we don’t want your division, conspiracy politics or MAGA culture wars. And we don’t want unarmed civilians shot in our streets.
Britain is better than that.

@FionaIsrael1 I dont understand how CPS agreed to charge ABH if there were no injuries. But I also don't understand why they weren't convicted of lesser offences as per s.6(3) Criminal Law Act 1967
English

Good morning.
Apologies for starting with a serious one, but I struggle to understand how it was a 'hung jury' in the Manchester airport brothers trial.
The defence must really have pulled something out of the bag, and it'd be interesting to know the facts.
If I had to choose my career path again, would I join the cops ? Possibly not.

@JamesMelville Give me a couple of hours. I need to ask ChatGPT.
English

@VerhofstadtQ I thought this applied?
In England & Wales (and similar common law jurisdictions), when a person is charged with Actual Bodily Harm (ABH) under s.47 OAPA 1861, the jury can convict of lesser included offences instead.

@Jeffery93242157 @BenGrahamUK @AndyBurnhamGM But being sensible people, we won’t decide he’s not up to the job before he’s even had the chance to do it, will we?

@TreborTrams1952 @BenGrahamUK @AndyBurnhamGM If asking for the truth is a Torrid ride, I think he might not be the man for job. 🤷

I am proud and humbled to have been selected as Labour’s candidate for Makerfield.
These proud working-class communities represent the very best values of our country and they deserve so much better. It would be my honour to work for them every day, if elected as their MP, to achieve that.
Many people here feel Westminster isn’t working for them and they are right. I am standing to change that and get the voice of these communities heard loud and clear.
I am glad that this by-election has finally put the places that make up the Makerfield constituency into the national spotlight. They have been neglected by national politics for too long. It is a good thing that all political parties are now on the hook to tell the voters here what they are going to do for them.
More than anything, people need life to be more affordable again. As Mayor, I have brought in changes which are helping, such as the £2 fare cap, free bus travel for our 16-18 year-olds and removing the 9.30am restriction from older and disabled people’s bus passes. But there is only so much I can do from Greater Manchester. If elected, I will have a relentless focus on reducing people’s everyday costs and bills and well as securing the investment these communities need.
I have been an elected representative in Greater Manchester for 25 years. Throughout that time, I have fought for the people of the North West of England on so many fronts. I am now ready to bring the whole weight of that experience to fighting for the communities of the Makerfield constituency and would be privileged to be given that opportunity.
English

@BenGrahamUK @AndyBurnhamGM Brother buckle down for a torrid ride. They will test you in every way possible... and even those which are indecent and inhumane.
I would vote for you if I could.
Be strong. If you get through this then the people of Makerfield will have a great spokesperson.
English

@AndyBurnhamGM “I am proud and humbled to have been selected as Labour’s candidate for Makerfield.”
You literally selected the seat yourself, and decided to run, yourself.
Nobody else selected you, let's be real.

@TimeForReform29 @ByrneBarry I fear that the nasty left will 'peel his skin off' to stop him winning. He no doubt had a cigarette behind the school bikeshed, or punched someone when he was 4.
I wish him well. If I could, I would vote for him. But you are right. His life is about to change.
English

Reform will potentially announce our candidate tomorrow for Makerfield
Most likely it will be Robert Kenyon
He is a normal local patriot who's a veteran and former NHS worker
We must understand his life will never be the same from tomorrow
The media will disect him and, in collusion with each other, Labour and Restore will attack him.
We must show him our full support and do everything we can to help him
Not just for our party or our country but for a man who is taking up the burden of frontline politics
Will you join him in his battle for our country?

@kellro36 @robwright477 Feck off out of my room.
English

@DonnaDlm71 I bet they go for conditions under the Civil Contingencies Act. Resistance to their incompetency means they can shut down normal freedoms.
English

I can't help but feel that this rotten man actually wants to incite trouble tomorrow. Hr would take immense pleasure from saying 'told you so, i was right all along, i'm always right'.
His arrogance is off the scale.
Keir Starmer@Keir_Starmer
I’ll always champion peaceful protest. But the Unite the Kingdom march organisers are peddling hatred and division. We’ve already blocked visas for far-right agitators who want to come here to spew their extremist views. They don't speak for the decent, fair, respectful Britain I know.
