At 73 and with the world in turmoil, I have had to look deep into myself.. what do I want? My compass for the kind of country I want my grandchildren to inherit: Family. Friendship. Fairness. Belonging. Guided by kindness, responsibility, duty, and good Christian values.

Reform voters will try to save this country. The rest of the country will get what it deserves.

I'm fully paid up for 2yrs Reform. Several stories circulating about David Bull, Farage's loan, Kruger re-defecting, Braverman & Jenrick very quiet. Of course the left will spin stories to damage Reform. If these stories are all BS, why don't we get out in front of them?

Good morning. Apologies for starting with a serious one, but I struggle to understand how it was a 'hung jury' in the Manchester airport brothers trial. The defence must really have pulled something out of the bag, and it'd be interesting to know the facts. If I had to choose my career path again, would I join the cops ? Possibly not.

@VerhofstadtQ I thought this applied? In England & Wales (and similar common law jurisdictions), when a person is charged with Actual Bodily Harm (ABH) under s.47 OAPA 1861, the jury can convict of lesser included offences instead.

I am proud and humbled to have been selected as Labour’s candidate for Makerfield. These proud working-class communities represent the very best values of our country and they deserve so much better. It would be my honour to work for them every day, if elected as their MP, to achieve that. Many people here feel Westminster isn’t working for them and they are right. I am standing to change that and get the voice of these communities heard loud and clear. I am glad that this by-election has finally put the places that make up the Makerfield constituency into the national spotlight. They have been neglected by national politics for too long. It is a good thing that all political parties are now on the hook to tell the voters here what they are going to do for them. More than anything, people need life to be more affordable again. As Mayor, I have brought in changes which are helping, such as the £2 fare cap, free bus travel for our 16-18 year-olds and removing the 9.30am restriction from older and disabled people’s bus passes. But there is only so much I can do from Greater Manchester. If elected, I will have a relentless focus on reducing people’s everyday costs and bills and well as securing the investment these communities need. I have been an elected representative in Greater Manchester for 25 years. Throughout that time, I have fought for the people of the North West of England on so many fronts. I am now ready to bring the whole weight of that experience to fighting for the communities of the Makerfield constituency and would be privileged to be given that opportunity.

Burnham.. Makerfield? "I come from there, went to school there, met my wife there, bought a chippy supper there." No. You get the chance because some idiot wants to give way to you. If I lived there, I would do all I could to oppose you. It is an insult to their intelligence.

Angela Rayner? I know several good people shaped by poverty, teenage motherhood who dabble in public services. Prime Minister material? Never. A UK PM should combine integrity, strategic vision, gravitas, competence, judgement, resilience, genuine patriotism and leadership.

I must be missing something. I watch debate after debate in the HoC but I rarely see Milliband sitting on the front bench.
