Have a great holiday everyone - it’s been a busy and intense half term. Looking forward to seeing lots of you at the KS1 Teaching Sequence for Writing event - we’ll look closely at transcriptional fluency and how to make it work in the classroom. @PriorityLit @FlyingHighTrust

There's still time to sign up for the Oxford University Y2 Mathematical Reasoning, EEF trial. The CPD is amazing with online modules delivered by Terezinha Nunes, and 12 weekly, resourced Reasoning lessons ... educationendowmentfoundation.org.uk/projects-and-e…

@Suchmo83 I completely agree that we have been concentrating on writing text types in KS1 before the pupils have grasped the transcriptional fluency - we need to secure the basics while ensuring the highest level of oral composition

If you’re a head of a school or CEO 🫤 of several and you’re asking people to make all their classrooms, PowerPoints, worksheets look exactly the same, then you are not just part of the problem. You ARE the problem. Stop it! You’re killing education. Go and manage a McDonalds.

@PaulKetchley @tes @educationgovuk Therefore they need to be properly prepared for - which was the criticism - we prepare too much for them and put pupils under stress. If it is ‘an exam’ then it should be treated as such. At the moment we have ‘an exam’ we shouldn’t revise for

@TreeHeathcote @tes @educationgovuk Because it's "an exam"? That's what normally happens "in exams". It's to ensure fairness and equity and create a level playing field. It has been like that for decades since I was in school.

Ofsted Review of English July 2022 - ‘…successful subject leadership depends on ‘autonomy and control over the curriculum… senior leaders need to give them this autonomy as part of a school’s shared vision ….’ Where do one size fits all trust wide schemes fit with this?

So SATs results have gone down - who’d have thought it!! As long as this is not a stick to beat us with but a recognition of the lost learning during the pandemic. I wonder which way it will go …🤔
