Language teachers- spend 5-10 minutes daily on fun oral intelligibility activities at the lower levels. This will pay huge rewards later!

If an ELL can't communicate in the target language, why would you assume they could decipher academic words in context? We must spend a year on communicative language skills. When ELLs can communicate, they are open to the entire education system. This is the way!

I attended the @edcampciva conference in Norfolk today. AMAZING! This format should be the standard for PD and workshops. Language educators share, collaborate, and discuss relevant topics, improving our instruction and practice, which truly benefits learners. Not prepackaged PD!
