I don't know what happened to her. For her to say this is just unbelievable. It's true that this was from 2022, but still. SO DISAPPOINTING. That said, free speech is indeed the weapon of the masses because it allows discourse, discovery, questions, and learning. For this alone, people should protect it while understanding that its practice comes with responsibilities. What is so terrible about people communicating to understand more? Free speech allows people to challenge falsity and correct any misunderstanding. It surfaces truths when it is used well. Censorship, however, is the weapon of fascists. It curtails ALL voices, literally preventing people from ever asking questions and challenging lies and any controlling communication.

Accountability and compassion aren’t opposites: Singapore shows they can reinforce each other.
