If anything were to happen to the Artemis II astronauts on this mission, it would be an amazingly strong argument that the original lunar landing was fake, exonerating all skeptics. If we can't circle the moon 57 years later, we probably didn't land on it and get back in 1969.

It's actually surprising how many people dont believe we went to the moon. Had a lunch with people last week 6 people, None with personal connections. None of us believed it. Was a little eye opening.

The current mission sends a strong signal to me that it's likely the first mission. We now have the capability to get there, but apparently still no capability to land and explore. That's why we're sling shotting around the moon instead of landing. There would be no need for such a mission if we had previously landed on the moon, because this is less of an accomplishment than that.
