@MesaMaxi @JoeMerrick Porygon2, Clefairy, Murkrow, Electabuzz and Magmar all have unique roles in VGC that cannot be replicated by any fully evolved mons. Removing them all “to keep it simple” is insultingly poor game design.

@TrickRubyVGC @JoeMerrick it's not simple to build and make it clear, should I recruit Torracat since I want Incineroar? makes sense to leave it for a later date, and yeah there is a significant non 0 number of new players that think it is way too complicated and need to be given leeway, it's a ban list

I'm a bit perplexed at some of the takes I'm seeing regarding Champions not having unevolved Pokémon at launch Like, SV didn't have Clefairy for 10 months, Porygon2 for 13, Incineroar for 13 and you didn't have people saying it can't be the place for competitive due to it?

@MesaMaxi @JoeMerrick Its not that hard them to offer only NFE mons that are good. Like I dont expect them to offer Torracat. But Porygon2 and Clefairy are not only eternal VGC staples, but they are both objectively better than their evolved forms even considering the existence of Mega Clefable.

@MesaMaxi @JoeMerrick Or, they could not insult the intelligence of new players by acting like its confusing. Because its not confusing at all. I was excited for Champions but the continued dumbing down of it in teasers is definitely turning me off.

@TrickRubyVGC @JoeMerrick but it is true, if you add non evolved you complicate the random pull of recruits, is more simple for new players to not have to think if the non evolved one is worth it and not have to add evolution as a training variant, they'll be added later, they confirmed that

@PerturbedM @JoeMerrick They’ve been clear they’ll come later. But like I said, its the stated reason for the omission that people are upset about, not the omission itself. The claim that it was to keep the game simple is kind of insulting.

@TrickRubyVGC @JoeMerrick I highly doubt that no prevos will make it in, I think they've just prioritise final stages for the initial release of the game

not to be weird but I’d be really unhappy if Pokémon Champions get like monthly hero shooter/MOBA-style balance passes; I think it’s really cool and unique that historically changes occur when a new game is released and patches are just to address bugs that hurt the experience

It's amazing the kind of close connections we can feel with the people we call friends, and the way they can be your space. It makes hurt a fuck ton more when you lose those people though. Fuck.

Yeah this will kill vgc and the game if these amounts stay the same, I understand you need to make money but with everything going on around the world people are going to choose paying for the roof over their heads and food. This needs to change @playpokemon @Pokemon

Champions is NOT going to save draft league 💀💀 but definitely W for ladder/VGC players. It might finally be time to make the transition over to VGC! If any moots want to teach me lmk 👀

@wellspringmask @ians_trash I assume it will not be hampered by rain, otherwise Solarbeam also would be kinda defeating the point of the ability. Lotsa folks forget that Rain also reduces the power of Solarbeam. I doubt they would have made a point of showing off Solarbeam if it only had 60 power still

I wonder if Mega Sol still gives weather ball the sun boost during rain If my assumptions about Mega Sol are correct, sun is only up for Meganium when it uses an attack. I wonder if moves like weather ball will still be treated as getting the sun boost in rain

This is a silly VGC question but during offline events how do you not make it obvious when you're going to tera? It's pretty clear what's going on when you hit the R button right in front of your opponent lol
