So cute when a highly privileged white guy from the US tells you that there are not enough challenges in the world and that they explore how to build character, creating difficulties like cold plunges. Check your privilege.

Another thing I would want to see is more experimentation on the culture side. Culture plays a valuable role in creating local consensus and standardizing answers on big important questions on how to live life and that needs to be updated for the 21st century - @VitalikButerin

@vrneth @balajis A network nation can have functional sovereignty, combine concentrated hubs and people in other communities, decentralized infrastructure, and create new institutional arrangements. For me, Zuzalu may be close to it

@vrneth @balajis In contrast, network nation is focused on nation. It means a combination of culture, shared identity, and traditions. Without specific territory or having different hubs, the nation creates unity. It doesn't fight usual states but create a new layer

The other day, @balajis called Zuzalu the “Ethereum Network State.” This has been bouncing around in my head, and I disagree. I think Ethereum is the Ethereum Network State. But what is Zuzalu? I’ve called Zuzalu a “movement” for awhile because I think it is the most accurate descriptor and the best way to align the many overlapping, yet distinct, online and offline communities that choose to associate with the permissionless(!) label of Zuzalu. Is Zuzalu a global movement of crypto city and network state experiments that investigate and accelerate defensive (d/acc) technologies?

People like this tend to completely ignore what actual locals say if it doesn't confirm their biased narrative > video from biased outside legacy media - this is great! > video from the most beloved Honduran influencer who interviewed dozens of locals - I don't care

@NiklasAnzinger @VitalikButerin literally in that video ppl talk about the fact that prospera can expropriate the land from them also taking advantage of a cheap labor source is a part of neo-colonialism I've spoken to people who've been and many who don't want to return after being there

@balajis Absolutely. Blockchain is not just fixing money, but science too. DeSci is putting research on-chain, turning labs into DAOs, and funding into global flows. Science will finally be as borderless as the internet.

The blockchain is the basis for global economic union, because it provides uniform monetary policy, payment rails, smart contract enforcement, encrypted messaging, verifiable identity, and capital formation to anyone with an internet connection.

Many web3 communities tend to claim new ways of reaching rationality through technology or technocratic social practices. Inte brilliantly shows in her dissertation how "more-than-rational" re-emerges in blockchain cultures and what understanding of truth becomes central.

What is Decentralized Science (DeSci)? Imagine you have a big box of toys. Normally, only you and your friends can play with them, but what if everyone in your neighborhood could join in? More people enjoying the toys means new games and ideas. That’s what DeSci is doing!!!

Individual speakers hopefully represent a spectrum of opinions – often extreme – making Zuitzerland (or at least the select broadcasted talks) a balanced collective… I say hopefully, as this was the intention but while we’re live I have no time to analyze (keen for feedback). Going for the Chad side of this meme, but on the intentional community scale

I’ve been watching the Zuizerland talks and I must say, I’m pretty shocked how the notion of “sovereignty” still continues to be discussed and defined in highly individualistic frameworks. My academic take.

@annbrody7 I don't think that currently, there is a disbalance between individual and collective. Obsession with sovereignty is more of a reanimated rationality myth. It mainly ends up in underestimating affective atmosphere, aka vibes, and other valuable unconscious elements
