In Trinidad, a mosque, a church, and a temple can exist within walking distance… Not in competition. Not in conflict. But peacefully in coexistence. Some countries are still fighting for that. And here we are, living it daily. We don’t talk about that enough.

@FakeDeep_ Paramin and Talparo has Patios Mass in the churches and creole day celebrations ( in october). The madras is featured there but certainly not in a way it’s celebrated in the french Caribbean.

@Trini_Kay I have one of J.D. Elders books the ones on school games & they're all in patois. Sometimes, when I go through cultural research books, I'm always surprised by how much we didn't keep at all, down to the use of Madras fabric, too.

For Trinidad I took Patios classes with Nmandi Hodge and it’s available online. I will also direct people to Paramin if they are serious about learning. Still spoke by plenty elders and they willing to teach. The R.C school in Paramin also teaches the children.

@FakeDeep_ The British Anglicization policy didn’t help! My elders told me they didn’t teach us because they wanted a fair chance to send their children to school. You weren’t allowed in any school system speaking patios.

How?
They created "green corridors" of trees and plants throughout the built city.
It cost $6.50 per resident, and will save the city millions of dollars each year.
