Charlie Bird, who died today, reported on many humanitarian disasters during a long career with @RTEnews, including Somalia, Rwanda & Haiti. He was courageous and tireless. We extend our condolences to his family & friends on the passing of a remarkable journalist. #CharlieBird

Word of Christmas Day, as always, is ‘confelicity’: joy in the happiness of others. The fellow emotion to ‘compassion’, literally ‘a suffering with’. Wishing you confelicity aplenty this Christmas.

As the temperatures have dropped this week, we decided that our soup run needed to be back on the streets. Despite last week's episode, we kept thinking of our service users and how much they rely on us. Of course we were very nervous going in tonight but we have been liaising with the Guards and they checked in a couple of times during the night. Everybody was so happy to see us back, glad that the soup run was there and by our presence we wanted to demonstrate caring and empathy towards the homeless. We are very blessed and as long as the soup run will be required, we hope we will continue to be present and serve without stopping or pausing to help those in need. We don't want to be in a position such as last week, because in the end, they are the ones who suffer from the outcome. Our prayers are with all the children and families who are affected from the horrific attacks of last Thursday on young children and their carers. We are constantly thinking of them, hoping and praying for health and blessings to be upon them all. As you can imagine it was an extremely busy night, we handed over 480 hot meals and provided lots of sleeping bags and tents. We could not have continued our work without your constant support. If you would like to donate, please click on the link below. Thank you. msoe.ie/index.php/comp… #souprun #muslimsistersofeire #helpthehomeless

Apricate (17th century): to turn your face to the winter sun and bask in it for a moment. (I know, I’ve said it before, but it’s too beautiful to forget.)

I already have great support from all over the country to lighting a candle on anniversary of climbwithcharlie. But really would love more charities and organisations to support the idea. My own health has got much worse but while I can I want to extend the hand of friendship.
