@aibra NFTs are a tiny tiny tiny market compared to collectibles. Fractionalized NFTs didnt work out because there simply isnt enough demand for NFTs in the first place

That makes the asset a security and in order to allow anyone to buy it, they would need to create the legal loopholes that result in token holders not actually being owners so it defeats the purpose. Fractionalization would need its own specific market structure legislation etc. The current legal version of that would restrict transfers and restrict ownership in general. Therefore restricting liquidity. The better legal structure is owning a fund that actively invests in collectibles.

Is the next step for collectible platforms to tokenize certain grails and provide fractional ownership? This way collectors can safely own a piece of the top 0.1% of cards, and platforms can offer a broader set of collectibles in gachas cc @Collector_Crypt @phygitals @Beezie

yeah I few things that contribute to the network effects. hard network effects: - Low pop PSA cards. Hard to believe these people are going to crack everything to change to another provider. too much risk. - Master sets in PSA. softer but still strong: - PSA is the reference for evaluations on cards. like how USD is the "reserve currency" PSA10 is the reserve denominator in card evaluations. - Brand: There are so many people that buy PSA slabs that dont grade them.

@Triple___Seven @jack_gk This is the right answer. PSA is not objectively better. Their grading process is not necessarily more trustworthy, neither are other processes. However, they have been around, collectors are used to them and familiar. A lot of people collect the PSA slabs....

A Beckett 10 can trade at 15 to 25x a PSA 10. Collectors know it is the harder grade to get. So if Beckett is the fairest grader in Pokémon, why does PSA still control around 80% of the market? Tim breaks down the weirdest part of the grading market.

Hot take: I honestly think Black Bolt & White Flare will age better than Ascended Heroes. Ascended Heroes feels top-heavy. Black Bolt & White Flare has 156 IR/SIR cards across the entire Unova Pokédex. That creates WAY more long-term collector demand. What do you guys think?

All the Web3 folks who were using CLaude to change the world have pivoted to talking about Pokemon now.

Gatcha packs are generally fine if done right. It's a mostly digital version of physical pack experience. It is gambling in a similar way but not exactly same way that opening physical packs are gambling. Physical packs have these properties most digitals don't. - all in the same language - odds don't meaningfully change as supply is consumed. - no "tiers" of packs, anyone can get the max rarity/most expensive card - players can use the cards The key thing for the Digitals is just make the odds transparent even if they change, use cards you actually own and the tactics to acquire new users shouldn't be predatory. Also maybe don't promote as hard "revenue" as like some ecosystem win as it effectively means. "This is how much money our users lost this month" In general I think it's fine, especially the top platforms seem to be doing it right, and it's a way to solve the liquidity problem in a way (as long as they reinvest revenue into compounding liquidity not just more supply but demand.)
