These are all just throw away words, what does ‘get behind the team’ and ‘just back them’ even mean?
Does it mean blind faith and blind support regardless whilst ignoring issues you’re seeing, just to be looked at as a better fan?

Almost two years down the line, this is still true. Most of Arsenal’s offensive issues are because of what has been prioritised in squad building. I don’t think Arsenal would have any open-play creativity issues had the idea been a 6 and two interiors, like City did for so long. If you play Rice alongside Zubimendi, I don’t see the point of it unless you play with attacking full-backs like Bayern, which Arsenal don’t.
To put it simply, Rodri, Bernardo, and De Bruyne should have been the blueprint for midfield. Arteta has gone for two DMs and one interior/10. Four DMs at the club, and two interiors prove that the squad building is intentional. It has obviously been done to leverage OOP, but the trade-off is not worth it for an elite team.

Arsenal have not raised their ceiling enough with their transfer business this summer. Calafiori is a decent upgrade on Kiwior, and Merino is a quality squad player, but nothing that moves the needle and gives them the edge over Man City. The benefit of having a large space-dominating defensive midfielder in Rice is to be able to accommodate two top offensive interiors like City do. What is the point of having a player like Rice and always playing him with a Partey or a Merino? It is inefficient to not take advantage of Rice’s capabilities to further enhance the collective. What Arsenal needed this summer was a zone-dominating LCM from the Pedri archetype that would have taken their attack and their ceiling to the next level.

@pedroelchileno And yes look at the players, but the manager has to somehow empower them to have the balls to switch it up. I don’t have the words to put a vague idea like ‘be creative’ into tactical framework. But my gaffer surely has to.

@pedroelchileno It’s the same rotations constantly, it doesn’t need to always be him arriving / being looked for & it’s becoming stale at this point. Yes be unpredictable, have your FB pop up but not at the expense of your danger men. Sacrificing too much potency in the name of threat IMO.

If your RB is getting the same amount of touches in the opp box than your CF, RW, LW and CAM, maybe, just maybe, take look at their performance levels instead of complaining about the guy who is actually performing.
By the way,
- Of the 13 touches our front 4 got in the box, 3 of them came through a pass by Timber.
- Only 3 players made successful passes into the box yesterday, Timber, Martinelli and Zubimendi.

@pedroelchileno You do it for kvara immediately, even paying 65m+. Doue due to age would just be too expensive they may ask for 90m+. Musiala similar to doue in price. Diomande and leao you pay the 40m+. The rest you’re just about getting 15m out of me.

LW is one of the areas where we can make the biggest upgrade to the team, but there are also very few players who would be a substantial upgrade on Martinelli in terms of current performance levels (not potential).
This is the test i do; would you pay 40/50m + Martinelli for any of the following players:

@jeffrey_dalyop_ Imo, with the effort it would seem to take improving some ST fundamentals his u21’s coaches should’ve (he’s a big lad, learn how to use your body) and attacking dynamic changes needed to platform his strengths better, the juice doesn’t seem worth the squeeze. Rotation player.

@777slimerre The overall level he’s been operating at currently makes him a floor lowering player. It’s a tough watch. He’s like a screwdriver with no handle, difficult tool to use and I’d rather buy a drill.
I thought he had a decent game and I was still unimpressed. Says a lot.
