As a medical journal editor, I spend a lot of time studying & critiquing papers on all aspects of COVID-19. One thing I’ve learnt: I do NOT want to catch SARSCoV2 without wearing armour i.e. having been vaccinated. List of complications is serious & long. bestpractice.bmj.com/topics/en-gb/3…

Sometimes, for me, strategic thinking means sitting with my eyes closed, listening to music, while I map it all out in my mind.

An interesting study, albeit short term. Substituting whole grains for refined grains in a 6-wk randomized trial has a modest effect on gut microbiota and immune and inflammatory markers of healthy adults academic.oup.com/ajcn/article/1…

Listening to Prof Philip Calder speak on inflammageing @nutsocaus making the excellent point that an anti-inflammatory diet is nothing new - it’s the same dietary pattern we’re already recommending! Lots of whole grains, nuts and fresh fruits and vegetables 👏 #inflammation #diet

@DrDavidKatz @qz "Ultra" processed? You mean like Cheetos? Not sure that kind of alarmist terminology is useful for describing plant meats.

Yes, you can include veggie meats (and other processed foods) in a healthy diet. These foods are safe, are better for the environment and don't exploit animals. They provide choices for both vegans and meat-eaters. Seems like a win.

OF COURSE plant-based alternative burgers are going to have more ingredients and be more processed than burgers that contain plain beef, so let’s get past that right now and move on to the real question: Are they 'healthy'? My thoughts about Beyond Meat: abbylangernutrition.com/are-beyond-mea…
