Wednesday's digit — 6/10: Warm highs in the 70s aren’t bad, but humidity is higher than ideal. Not too wet until late afternoon or evening.

@ArlingtonVotes For intellectual sake, will you post totals including where Susan and Maureen’s second place votes would have gone had they been eliminated?
Results update: All mail ballots received and accepted have been posted. Currently, about 230 provisional ballots are still being looked at. enr.elections.virginia.gov/results/public…
@MaryKaderaAPS@APSCardinalElem@chbrowncardelem Jamestown and Cardinal partnered up this year on theme/decorations and shared volunteers. Maybe next year we can push Yatch Rock and you would be welcome to come as our school board liaison!
Congrats to @APSCardinalElem PTA for a great auction event last night. I am still sad that during my time as a PTA leader there (McK) I was never successful in selling my "Yacht Rock" auction theme idea... with @chbrowncardelem as The Captain. Too visionary??...
ICYMI APS SB Chair chastised fellow board member Thursday night for her dissenting vote on a contentious $170M project, suggested dissent is "heartbreaking" for students (even though student speakers highlighted concerns at same mtg). vimeo.com/704992922
The Jamestown community is so thankful for Ms. Estes, Ms. Fuentes, Ms. Flores, & Mr. Corprew. They are the reason school runs so smoothly each day. Thanks for all you do. Happy Administrative Professioanls Day! @APSVirginia@McCarthyM_JES@monicaroache#APSisAwesome
@MaryKaderaAPS@APSCareerCenter@Margaretchungcc Thanks for taking the time to visit while considering the new designs! Love to see the engagement from board members in such a big decision. Thank you 🙌
I had a wonderful visit this morning @APSCareerCenter--thanks to @Margaretchungcc and all the students and staff members who took the time to educate me about their school community. So helpful to me generally as a SB member, and esp as I consider designs for the new facility.
My youngest just lost a tooth and now we are all so excited that the Tooth Fairy might meet the Easter Bunny at our house tonight. “If they fall in love their baby would be the Tooth Bunny… or the Easter Fairy!!”
🚨Flagging for parents - upcoming vote for a calendar 🗓️change for THIS school year making Mon, May 2, a no school day for students and a holiday for staff instead of Tue, May 3.
The @CDCgov published new mask guidance for indoor settings today based on COVID-19 community levels, so we are reviewing the new guidance and will share more information regarding masks with the APS community on Monday. cdc.gov/coronavirus/20…
For folks outside of DC, the blue dot is almost exactly Nats Park and US Capitol. The red flags are proposed Virginia stadium sites. Football is FedEx Field.
I know there are questions about next steps with our mask policy. Like other local school divisions, APS has been reviewing the latest health guidance and planning for when we can safely ease our mask requirements.
@APSReady@ArlParentsforEd Are boosters required for students to be considered “up to date”?
Does APS have a plan to end athletic testing? Fairfax, Loudon and Fall Church City do not tests vaccinated or unvaccinated athletes. They never required the testing of vaccinated athletes.
We just learned that in order for a student to be exempt from quarantine or TTS the new APS policy (per @ReadyArlington rep) requires students to be "up to date" on their COVID vaccines rather than "fully vaccinated". Difference is the booster. As we learn more we will update you
@bluevirginia@News_MTorres Post likes these show that Dem leadership continues to be blind to the many Dem voting parents who want masks removed. These Dems will leave the party if leadership doesn’t stop being so one sided
This should all work out perfectly... (snark) #comment-5739272711" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">bluevirginia.us/2022/02/wednes… h/t @News_MTorres
The agenda for today's January 20 School Board Meeting is posted on BoardDocs:

Meetings are available for viewing live on the APS website apsva.us/school-board-m……
and broadcast on Comcast Cable Channel 70 & Verizon FIOS Channel 41
@margaretbarthel@ArlParentsforEd Yes, APS needs to adopt CDC shortened isolation guidelines. Moving from 10 to 5 days is a meaningful difference for staffing and student achievement. After 3 weeks off, a 10 day quarantine is a huge setback for kids’ mental health and academic routine.
A group of Arlington parents, @ArlParentsforEd, has released a statement calling for the school system to follow CDC guidance (and neighboring Fairfax County) in taking the required COVID quarantine and isolation time from 10 to 5 days.

@margaretbarthel The decision to pause all extracurriculars in APS while kids continue in all neighboring counties makes no sense. Our teams are now renting spaces in Fairfax & Springfield to practice and club teams are playing games. These kids go to school, but now without APS Covid testing.
The statement also expresses frustration about the school system's pause on extracurriculars.
Northern Virginia parents, what do you think? How are you feeling about how the schools are handling this latest pandemic surge?
@APSVaSchoolBd@willmarlow Pre-Covid people could sign up in person the day of meetings. Would the school board consider going back to this when there are fewer than 30 speakers signed up? And/or lifting the cap? There didn’t used to be a limit.
@willmarlow@TrishMadden7 Thank you for inquiring about speakers at the Jan. 6 meeting. The speaker form was posted until Jan. 4. The Board only received 14 speaker forms and all those who signed up were provided the information on how to acess the meeting to share their remarks.
Due to the State of Emergency issued in Virginia the Board will hold its regular January 6, 2022 meeting virtually. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

@APSVaSchoolBd@willmarlow I really appreciate the reply! I know for sure one student and one parent submitted by 4pm on Jan 4th and didn’t get slots. I’m waiting to hear from the other student. Maybe the power outages or some technical error occurred.
