Canada now faces a toxic mix of negative productivity growth, a housing‑led downturn, stubbornly high food prices, rising youth unemployment, internal trade barriers, worsening frictions with its largest trading partner, and elevated interest rates that are squeezing over‑leveraged households and small businesses alike.
