I think one of the most difficult reckonings of this election is that the incentives we thought inspired voting choices -- a better life for your family and future for your community -- may not be as decisive as the desire to dominate and inflict cruelty on outgroups. Explanations that don't grapple with this point generally read to me like liberal wishcasting.

Zionists in Amsterdam disrespected the moment of silence for the flood victims in in Spain , they chanted”death to Arabs” they chanted “there are no schools and no babies left in Gaza” . They tore down Palestinian flags and attacked bystanders on the streets. So when they got the adequate treatment they deserved , as usual, they cried and victimized themselves and the western media , as usual, covered up for them and focused on the reaction and ignored their aggression. Some of those “soccer fans” were IDF reservists and assholes who served to kill Palestinian and Lebanese children. Zionist are just cowards. They will only play bullies if they are supported by US money and weapons. But without that you just have a bunch of cowards weeping and crying and victimizing themselves. Without the western media you have no cover and without US weapons you are absolute nothing. So cry me a fucking river…. To the sea.

Holmes à Court: Dutton channels Trump.
"His fact-free nuclear debate thought bubble & aggressive 'othering' of non-white Australians & refugees should be a wake-up call to all. Dutton’s Svengali, Gina Rinehart, is partying at Mar-a-Lago as we speak!"

"It wasn’t the economy," @mtomasky says. "It wasn’t inflation, or anything else. It was how people perceive those things, which points to one overpowering answer" — the right-wing media. newrepublic.com/post/188197/tr…

A note to Dem politicians and campaigns: You won't persuade voters with a one-off appearance on a popular podcast the week before the election (which is not a knock on Harris' campaign; she only had a couple months so they did all they could). The reason Republicans are winning over so many young people is because the right invests hours and hours, everyday, every month, every year in audience-building among its influencer class. We can't compete by sticking our candidates on an episode one time in October of an election year. Democrats need to embrace YEAR-ROUND progressive media (either directly political or political-adjacent) if we want to compete. But you cannot only remember independent media outlets exist 2 weeks before an election-- not in a media environment where the vast majority of Americans (and practically ALL persuadable Americans) are consuming content on alternative outlets.

Poor Matt can't read the inflation data.
We are middle of the pack.
Using comparable monthly data here's the score card:
Australia 2.1%
Japan 2.5%
Sweden 1.6%
Eurozone 2.0%
Norway 3.0%
Canada 1.6%
US 2.4%
New Zealand 2.2% *Qtrly
UK 1.7%

Our government has mismanaged our finances while we have the highest inflation in the developed world.

@AltMediaWatch Emboldened by his hero Trump’s victory no doubt. The whole “libertarian” thing is a farce. They are just far-right nationalists with marketing. Guy is in NSW upper house, has contributed nothing of relevance in the NSW policy space and uses his salary to platform shit like this

So, if you thought Trump was going to win big, the best trade would have been to buy listed US private prison operators. Only in America!! @AlanKohler

Rolling Stone rips into Donald Trump and his victory:
“Donald Trump- the twice impeached former president, Jan. 6 coup leader, convicted felon, adjudicated sexual abuser, and man who mismanaged the 2020 economic implosion and coronavirus disaster that killed more than 1 million people in this country, has convinced American voters to give him another term in the White House.
After a campaign marked by nativism, open bigotry, and aspiring authoritarianism, Trump triumphed over Vice President Kamala Harris, despite being denounced by several of those who worked most closely with him in his first term as a ‘fascist’. The 45th president will become the 47th in late January.
Trump’s win demonstrates that the most powerful people in the country are indeed above the law. An elderly, foul-mouthed, racist game-show host can try, in broad daylight, while the TV cameras are fixed on him, to execute a coup d’état in our nation’s capital, people can die from it, and in a few shorts years be rewarded with the full-throated support of his political party, and now the keys to the White House.
No matter what policies Trump does or doesn’t manage to shove through when he takes office in January, there is no doubt that he and his new Justice Department are going to shut down the federal cases against him. He will get away with it all, and his enemies will have to choke on that for the rest of their careers and lives.
And that will just be the beginning.”

And what do you know? Harris now winning Virginia by 70,000 votes. That will grow. See how this works? Rural areas report results faster than cities and crowded suburbs. It has always been that way. And it will be that way in AZ, WI, MI, and PA. Harris gaining ground.
David Shuster@DavidShuster
Biden won Virginia in 2020 by 500,000 votes (10%). The only reason Virginia is even now is because democratic counties (Arlington, Alexandria) in northern VA and Hernico (Richmond) are sitting at 30% votes reported with the rest of the state at 60%. Harris will win VA.

Biggest fear is that when Philadelphia, Detroit, Milwaukee, and Phoenix finally report results...and the sling shot effect boosts Harris in each state, Trump/MAGA will claim fraud or rigged election. Because in Trump world, only votes counted by 11pm are valid. #Election2024
