Since at least 1993, the U.S. government has known that “teachers, as a result of preservice reading methods courses, have been denied a working knowledge of the reading programs and methods of instruction that are most successful in preventing reading failure.” Tell me why government-run preservice educator preparation programs were not reformed in 1993 (and still have not been reformed) to ensure that all future teachers would have a working knowledge in the methods that are evidenced to benefit all learners, including students with disabilities—i.e., direct, explicit, multimodal, structured, sequential reading, writing and mathematics instruction. 🤔 1/
