March 27, 2026 The University of Alberta has chosen to remove explicit EDI commitments from its hiring policy. This is not about language. It is about accountability, power, and whether institutional commitments to equity and reconciliation are reflected in practice.
The University of Alberta Board of Governors has voted to approve the new recruitment policy that removes the equity, diversity, and inclusion language. All student representatives voted against the new policy.
