That's exactly the point, mate. There are distinctive differences between various types. Depression is a mental disorder; anxiety is also a mental disorder; OCD is a mental disorder; autism or ADHD are even considered disorders. Many of these disorders, however, have a bio-psychological basis and genetic underpinnings. The disorder that is solely dedicated to categorizing trans individuals and assessing their viability to access treatment to alleviate this condition is gender dysphoria.
Gender dysphoria, previously, Gender Identity Disorder, used to be treated as access to hormone replacement therapy, which was granted with prerequisites and on the basis that it is persistent and considered likely "permanent," as very few adults had the condition developed as early-onset—many as early as age 4. However, this was not treated as a means to transition, since children are still in development and were observed and addressed through interventions such as psychotherapy, etc. Very rarely, in high-risk and persistent cases, the youngest with parental consent underwent a very strict process at age 16 for HRT. Not even surgery was considered a first line of treatment to alleviate gender dysphoria, and many decide on surgery much later into adulthood; some don't, as their dysphoria have been sufficiently addressed by HRT alone.
At least, this approach, as I described, used to be the standard, despite considered "gate-keeping," as the population of trans was very rare. The main goal for individuals was to assimilate into society and "pass," which means that they would barely even be detectable or recognizable as trans, with the common sense understanding that if someone knows they don't pass well, they wouldn't force themselves into women's spaces to begin with. This is why male-to-female trans are more inclined to undergo cosmetic surgery to adopt more feminine features.
What the WPATH did was advocate for trans individuals no longer being considered a disorder. Their aim was to reduce stigma, but we all know it's a recipe for disaster. So, APA changed GID to Gender Dysphoria in the DSM after WPATH's advocacy, then 2019, WHO officially removed it from the ICD and placed it under sexual health while in mainstream largely considered it a social identity.
What then happened is that informed consent came along as a band-aid fix and fast-tracked people toward transitioning—even children. Many began coming out and self-identifying as trans, despite many of them not actually being so. The rates of regret and detransitioners skyrocketed as many of these individuals realized they didn't truly have gender dysphoria and instead suffered from different issues such as trauma, autism, etc. Especially since Covid, under Democrats' "transgender ideology".
Hence, informed consent became the deafult approach for most by 2023; first line of treatment for transition was even bypassed, with many going straight to surgery and most without a psych diagnosis, not even HRT, which defeats the purpose of actually treating dysphoria, as it is largely alleviated by hormones.
Because it's framed as a social identity under sexual health in ICD and no longer as a mental disorder, many have adopted it though self-id—even though many of these individuals have entirely different disorders. I bet my bottom dollar that none of those individuals on that list truly have gender dysphoria or GID; most are likely under the category of paraphilic disorders such as pedophilia, fetishism, transvestism, sexual sadism, voyageristic fetishism, even autogynephilia. Many probably have dissociative identity disorder as well, but none are genuinely in distress or suffer from gender dysphoria.
They're all mental disorders, but the distinction matters. It's insane what the left has done throughout the years. They've harmed women and children and invited psychopaths to self-id and exploit it. And slowly, they're doing it with Pedophilia.
