Too bad there’s no way to solve for this but treating the revenue generators as business partners instead of children who need congressionally-limited allowances.

NEW: Clemson's Dabo Swinney weighs in with @ClowFB on the chaos surrounding college football: "The only thing worse than having no rules is having rules you can’t enforce or don’t enforce. I don’t think any of us thought we’d be in a world where there’s no order. It’s a much bigger conversation now. Even in the NFL, there are rules. You can’t sign with the Browns and go practice for two weeks and the Dolphins call you up and say, ‘Hey man, what are they paying you? Hey, we’ll pay you a million more. Come on down here to the Dolphins.’ And then you go in there and say, ‘Hey boys, I’m out.’" on3.com/news/one-down-…

Random Thought. AJ Green is criminally underrated. I always liked him over Julio. He was on a similar track until he got banged up. One is talked about as top 5 ever and the other is never mentioned in any all-time list 🤔

For better or worse. The “amateur” fallacy in college athletics is dead and gone. Power dynamics have shifted. The role of leadership has changed. It’ll be interesting to see which programs innovate and which get left behind. Adapt or die. READ MORE: open.substack.com/pub/truthh4/p/…

@KyleEads 100%. Tough transition no matter what. Will end up being harder for most guys now.. even though the inverse should be true.

Ya I think a lot of people are taking this out of context. Of course anyone would prefer to be in this situation/have this opportunity as opposed to not. Nobody is saying it shouldn’t be happening, I think people are wanting things in place to help young adults better navigate the situation and be better prepared for their future reality, it’s not that difficult to understand. They absolutely are setup in a very advantageous position, even with a significant earnings decrease, but if they aren’t mentally and emotionally willing to accept that it’s going to be there future and prepare for it ahead of time, when it does hit.. it’s going to hit hard

This is a great conversation. I spoke with an administrator recently who raised the same point around the long-term mental health implications of the current system. The reality is that most of this kids will never make this type of lump sum money again. Are they earning it? Yes. Are there going to be adverse long-term effects as they transition to “regular” life post college? Absolutely. And at the moment there is no unified structure to support that reality. A CBA is needed and will come.

Ding. Ding. Ding. It’s not the top kids that this system will fail. It’s the kids who make $500k and then $600k. They graduate, their careers sputter out and then go to get an office job and make $75k. What are they going to do then. The ncaa won’t care…

I'll be putting out content on the business of college sports, the opportunity for private capital, and the broader insights I've gathered over the last few years as an entrepreneur.
