If you’re still sending a generic resume to every job opening, you’re making it way harder for yourself. Job seekers who tailor their resumes see up to a 2x increase in interview conversions, based on data from 1.7 million applications. Tailoring fixes that gap.

56% of job seekers were asked to do unpaid work during interviews in the past year. 35% hit with it once or twice. 15% three or four times. 72 people asked 5+ times. At what point does a skills assessment become free labor? And what's your rule when it happens?

31% of job seekers in our survey were asked something illegal or inappropriate in an interview. And the options when it happens? Answer and risk discrimination. Refuse and seem difficult. Report it and lose the role. Has this happened to you? What did you do?

We asked 1,049 job seekers: would you use AI to lie on your resume if it got you an interview? 44% said yes. Not a fringe answer. Nearly half. The harder question: what does that mean for the 56% who said no?

Startup vs. enterprise salary in tech: $115k median at companies with 1–10 people. $130k at 1,000+. $15k gap. Smaller than people think. What actually widens at big companies is the range — which means more negotiation room, but more variance too. What's been your experience?

Google Jobs has an 11.3% response rate. LinkedIn has 3.1%. Both pulling from the same applicant pool. Where you apply isn't just a preference. It's a strategy. Comment SEARCH for the full job board breakdown.

A tech veteran. 9.5 years. 80-hour weeks. Laid off out of nowhere. 400 applications. A founder with 60 days before deportation. The job market is quietly crushing people who have never struggled before. You are not behind because you aren't good enough.

92% of job listings in Washington state include salary info. In many Southern and Mid-Atlantic states? The majority say nothing. The first offer typically arrives around day 58.Know your number before that — not during it.

Recruiters already know what the job is. Your resume needs to prove what you did with it. "Handled customer support" = says nothing. "Resolved 50+ issues weekly, cutting response time by 35%" = says everything. Same role. Completely different impression.

71.7% of resumes that got interviews included a LinkedIn profile link. 64.3% of ones that didn't advance had one. Small gap. Consistent across 243,000 resumes. When your resume earns a second look, recruiters go somewhere. Make it easy for them.

An office mandate eliminates 90% of the candidate pool. Only 10% of job seekers say remote flexibility is unimportant. Nearly 50% say it's extremely important. Meanwhile 54% of job postings now share no location info at all. Up from 48% in January.

Resumes that got interviews had fewer bullet points per role than ones that didn't. The ones that got callbacks wrote less — but each achievement was more developed. Does this match what you've seen, or has a recruiter told you something different?

59% of Gen X job seekers have removed experience from their resume to look less overqualified. Baby Boomers: 66%. Millennials: 44%. Gen Z: 28%. The more experience you have, the more likely you are to hide it. Something is off when decades of work becomes a liability.

30% of job seekers have an employment gap because of a layoff. 12% more have one because they simply couldn't find work fast enough. The stigma doesn't match the data. How did you explain your gap in interviews? Genuinely curious.

Nearly half of women have 3 months or less of financial runway if they lose their job. For non-binary job seekers, 50% have less than one month. A shorter runway means less time to find the right fit.
