@TryThisTeaching Making it public allowed teachers to respond to something they rarely have a decent right to reply to. Parents keep the debate closed behind WhatsApp walls or make a complaint that is dealt with through policy and procedure. The OP unwittingly gave a proxy for frustrated folk.

Everybody posting about that parent and her print screen form classcharts. I don’t for a minute think the mum thought it would have millions of views… Also- I just think that sometimes people just see things from a very different lens.

@TryThisTeaching Sometimes that lens needs readjusting. Maybe this will have done that for her, maybe not.

@scriptwren I agree. But I think, just my opinion, she probably feels it’s already public when posted on classcharts. But anyway- think she’s getting a pretty rough deal. I disagree with her completely in all areas however.

@TryThisTeaching If you upload something in the public domain which identifies someone’s full name (including a minor’s), you should be aware of the implications.

@TryThisTeaching I thought about this more after we spoke about it. A big barrier to teachers engaging with research is that as soon as they do so critically, there’s a good chance of being told they’ve misunderstood what the research ‘says’ as if it ‘says’ one thing free from bias or assumption

The amount of companies and organisations that think teachers have time to read research summaries and then apply them directly into their classrooms is wild.
