"We've heard and seen the long lines pop up here and across the country. However, there could be some relief, both for travelers and TSA workers... paychecks should be coming to TSA workers starting today." As Democrats fight to keep @DHSgov closed, @POTUS found a way to pay the TSA officers who've been so greatly harmed during this cruel shutdown.

ICE is proud to stand side by side with our brothers and sisters at @TSA — this is a message we received from the field: “I’m at LaGuardia, we did our training and now there’s no wait time. 99% of travelers are happy we’re here helping!”

ICE is operating the entire TSA pre-check operation in LaGuardia. Checking boarding passes, helping people load bags onto the scanner. TSA agents on metal detectors and screens. Massive line that stretches to the street, made it through in less than 30 minutes. ICE rocks.

President Trump has made the decision that echoes what TSA’s frontline employees and the millions of Americans enduring terrible wait times at our airports are saying: the Democrat DHS shutdown has become an emergency. TSA officers are now losing their homes and cars, struggling to put food on the table, and are experiencing all-around financial catastrophe because of this extended shutdown, the 3rd they’ve experienced in just 6 months. Travelers are facing record breaking wait times stretching hours and hours long causing missed flights, unnecessary delays, and booking headaches. This crisis is a direct result of chaos unleashed on the American people by Democrats in Congress. Today, at the direction of President Trump and @SecMullinDHS, TSA has immediately begun the process of paying its workforce. TSA officers should begin seeing paychecks as early as Monday, March 30. TSA is grateful to the President and Secretary for their leadership to put money back into the pockets of TSA employees who worked without pay during the ongoing Democrat DHS shutdown.

The ICE agent sprang into action and saved this one-year-old child’s life. If our agent had not been there and stepped up, this could have been a tragic outcome. Despite constant attacks from the media and sanctuary politicians, these agents show up every day to protect the Homeland and their fellow Americans. We are extremely grateful for their heroic action today. ⬇️

At JFK Airport, as travelers waited in hours-long lines, an infant became unresponsive and stopped breathing. The panic of the child’s family and nearby passengers were heard by an ICE agent stationed at a checkpoint. This heroic officer immediately sprang into action—rushing toward the cries, taking the child, and performing a Heimlich maneuver that restored the infant’s breathing after nearly two minutes. This officer’s extraordinary bravery embodies the selfless service of DHS law enforcement.

TSA Officers Selling Blood and Sleeping in Cars as Shutdown Hits Day 40 TSA's top official tells Congress the agency is facing the worst airport security crisis in its history. Acting administrator Ha Nguyen McNeill testifies before the House Homeland Security Committee today that wait times have exceeded four and a half hours at some airports, the longest in TSA's 25-year existence. McNeill told lawmakers that many officers have missed bill payments, received eviction notices, had cars repossessed and utilities shut off since the partial DHS shutdown began on February 14. More than 480 TSA officers have quit since the shutdown started. Callout rates at multiple major airports have hit 40 to 50 percent on certain days, compared with a pre-shutdown average of 4 percent. McNeill warned the agency may be forced to close smaller airports if staffing continues to decline.

Democrats are once again playing political games with the livelihoods of our heroic TSA officers. This shutdown has forced officers in Las Vegas and 100,000 other DHS workers to work without pay — putting them and their families in incredible financial uncertainty. Enough is enough. It’s time for Democrats to end the DHS shutdown.

NEW: Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-MI) asks Acting TSA Administrator Ha Nguyen McNeil how she feels about ICE agents at airports thinking "they can do [TSA's] job better than them?" McNeil responds that the ICE agents have been "incredibly helpful" and there have been signs of "early relief". She says she's thankful the ICE agents are there, TSA has been giving them training since Monday, and that the ICE agents have been "incredibly helpful to alleviate the burden on our workforce."
