[ICYMI] The South African Police Service (SAPS) has officially changed the name of the Madlanga Task Team and replace it with the name: Commission’s Recommendations Task Team (CRTT). This is after Justice Mbuyiseni Madlanga flagged the danger of a term that could be closely associated to the Commission, citing confusion with judicial and police functions. SAPS spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe confirmed the renaming of the team. In a statement, Mathe said: “The South African Police Service (SAPS) wishes to inform members of the public and the media that the task team previously referred to as the Madlanga Task Team will henceforth be known as the Commission’s Recommendations Task Team (CRTT). “The name change is aimed at ensuring clarity regarding the mandate and scope of the task team, which is responsible for investigating matters arising from recommendations made by the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.”
