100%, David Garland was the man who saved Monaghan and convinced referee Noel Mooney to reverse his decision to end the game. Great read here from 2020 with Eoin Ryan on his work as an umpire as a young intercounty footballer - it paid off! rte.ie/sport/gaa/2020…

So this is class. Look at the point where Noel Mooney changes his mind. David Garland is the one speaking to him. Garland referees club football in Dublin and is apparently very good at it! He previously umpired in inter-county football. Knowledge of the rules can be so vital

How Jack McCarron's two-pointer looked from the stands. Rory Beggan's reaction is everything.

One of Monaghan, Armagh or Down will win an Ulster title. They’ve not lifted the trophy in 11, 18 and 32 years respectively. Ulster championship has had 5 different winners in last 10 years with every team reaching a final since 2009. Probably best competition in the GAA.

Jack McCarron that is absolutely outrageous lad, one of the best left foots in the country, with Beggan behind him. He goes for it. Monaghan force extra-time. Wizard.

Madness, Monaghan with a two point sideline chance after the hooter, Beggan convinces referee Noel Mooney after he had ended the game that he had made a mistake Began to take it or will it Jack McCarron with an outside of the left 25 yards out

"If there is one man in Ireland you want to be stepping up to take that two-point free, to win the game and put your county into an Ulster final, it is Rory Beggan." The Irish News' Neil Loughran tries to sum up a remarkable Ulster Championship semi-final between Monaghan and Derry on Saturday. 🎥 Dylan Hegarty

The most amazing end to a GAA match I can remember as @monaghangaa come back from 12 down, seem to have lost by 2, then Rory Beggan explains the rules to the ref & they get a second chance for the nerveless Jack McCarron to do this.
Ronan Mullen@RonanReigns

Drama at the end of Monaghan v Derry unlike anything you'll ever see, Rory Beggan seemingly the only man in the Athletic Grounds who knew the rules to restart the game, & Jack McCarron with the two-pointer of a lifetime to equalise with the last kick 🤯

Was it the greatest game we've ever seen in the Ulster championship? While that's a debate for another time, Monaghan supporters will be walking on air tonight after one of the most memorable wins in their history as they stunned Derry to book a place in the Ulster Final.

Beggan wanted to take the sideline on the 70th minute. Jack overruled and bagged it with the outside of the boot. Beggan got his chance in the 90th minute. Legend of a man
