I can confidently now say, after playing all of the SMB-clones on Steam, that my game has the closest physics to the original two SMB games. Rolled Out! is close, but I believe what I've built (physics wise) is stronger. Now creating levels and art will be the actual hard part!

Which is why the physics feel the strongest between my game and Rolled Out!. Sadly, Rolled Out! is abandoned, years without a dev update. Seems like they got tired of working on it. My game can fill that gap, while also having my original mechanic (yet to be unveiled)

My biggest issue with paperball is the speed boost on diagonal tilts. SMB did not do that, so it feels off, but its the dev's artistic choice. Ballygon is similar, it doesn't feel quite right, also likely a creative choice. Rolled Out! and my game are based on WMB values...

@_Fuzzgun I want the fish to be visible which means the water has to be visibly transparent. But I can stylize it, I don't mean photo realistic water, I just mean the particles become one and resemble a body of liquid. 3D pixels making up the art is cool but idk how you'd see the fish.

@Tuna_Roll_Game Word of returning. If you want the game to have -online- multiplayer you kind of have to start implementing that from the start or it will be a headache later. Not recommended for your first game but wanted to let you know to keep your expectations in check.

Some ideas: I want to make multiplayer party games a big part of the game. I've been rebuilding the game with a more modular design going forward, so instead of one stage_base.gd script, everything gets its own script. This rewrite should allow for me to implement anything.
